Quality of IB fills lately - stops

It sounds like your trigger method at IB is one that provides for a slower exit...in other words, perhaps it requires 2 trades at or below your stop price, or perhaps the ask price has to drop under your stop. This might be an advantage in cases where the stock drops to a price briefly and then...

Quality of IB fills lately - stops

I agree with the other poster...the chances are high that the trigger method is different. You can alter that at IB. My wife has a small IRA account at Ameritrade. I don't think it compares at all to IB...of course she isn't selling on a stop in a panic market.:D OldTrader

My typing mistake or IB problem ?

Check your audit trail. It's in the drop down box under "view", provided you have your TWS configured that way. OldTrader

    Hedge Fund TV Show

My understanding is that you can't get it unless you subscribe to it, if that's what you're asking. You probably wouldn't subscribe unless you are able to receive HD in some manner. My apologies in advance if I misunderstood your question. OldTrader

    Hedge Fund TV Show

I saw the Wall Street Warrior program last night on Time Warner HD. I think it is a series. Wasn't just about hedge funds. They had a day trader who hasn't had a losing month since 1999 for instance. OldTrader

    Go futures go!

Maybe you should email your opinion to Kirk Kerkorian. Let's see, he's worth $10Billion and long, you're daytrading 100 share "blocks. :p OldTrader

    Go futures go!

    Value of Backtesting and Stops

I don't do any backtesting in the manner that you mean it. Not that I don't see the value for some. I'm not a "system" trader in the manner that you mean it either. I've described the manner of my trading here before, so I'm not going to go back through that. But let's leave it at...

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

I can't remember when that started...but it's been quite a while. The DTN refresh is delayed. The IB refresh on intraday charts up to 1 week is not delayed. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

Backfill and real time data (from IB) should be the same, or nearly the same. The issue that they supposedly are working on is the issue of whether a high (or low) happens to occur during the interval that they aggregate together. IB does not give you each tick...they give you an interval...

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

But I think the question here is whether the real time data and the backfill data from IB are the same. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

I see...looks like I learned something new here. However this would not impact the bar charts I assuming, such as the OP is using. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

You might want to get your facts straight. You can select either IB or DTN as a refresh source. You check your preference in the properties box. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

You understand of course that IB does not report every tick. Trading the ES as this trader is I doubt that is going to make or break him. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

By the way, when I refresh, I right click the chart, then select refresh from the menu. Pick the time parameter you choose. OldTrader

A question for those who use Ensign for charting and IB for data

I switched as well...and am fairly pleased with the results. First, so that you know, when you click on your chart, the properties come up. Under the data tab there is a box that says "preserve existing bars". You could check that. I have not checked it. And, I also have not checked...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

First, if I correctly understood what B1 said, his point was that there is a correct way to trade, and it has nothing to do with one's personality. With that point I completely agree. The markets have their own ways...and they have nothing to do with YOUR "personality". I think the point is...

    IB Trin

Exactly. I can't figure out what they're looking at. Frankly those ESignal numbers don't look right either. The reason I brought the Trin issue up is that a friend told me my trin was completely different than his (this was about a week ago). Didn't think to ask his quote source...because...

    IB Trin

Volume looks like it's the culprit. Way off at least for the NYSE. Evidently they must not be using that particular number to calculate their Trin reading. Thanks for you input. OldTrader
