    Hedging

The concept of hedging is based upon the idea of having a cleaner exposure to what you are betting on. For example, say you think stock A is poised to rally. However, you may think that stocks in general are in a bear market. In this case, you would want to hedge out equity beta, while being...

interesting time shedule for the bubble to pop

They simply don't understand what repos are and how they work. Repos are money to dealer banks. You should read this: PowerPoint Presentation (financialresearch.gov)

    thoughts on harmonic patterns?

It begins with studying your opportunities. For an elite trader, this means reading lots of journals to stay abreast on research and to know what information the market is incorporating. Here is a good example: gr3.pdf (stanford.edu) The next thing to do is determine what type of trade's you...

    thoughts on harmonic patterns?

The only real edge you have as a retail trader is that you can fill quickly once you’ve made a decision. That’s a logistical edge. Charts, patterns, etc., are not going to help at all. Top traders should be looking at a win rate of 55-60%. You should avoid factor and beta risk and instead focus...

The market now getting hit on Lower Yields !

Lol dude you are clueless. Are you not reading? Blueline is the consensus forecast for GDP growth this year. LEI: One of the most ignorant comments lol. First, a Hawkish Fed is bearish on bonds. Second, yields don't spike UP when inflows are 120BB/mo lol. Third, stock prices are a...

    thoughts on harmonic patterns?

Literally none. The stuff an average ET'er can trade are things like momentum and reversals, and for both of those, simplicity is key. Momentum should be measured as the slope of change in the stock price, while reversals are providing liquidity against the market move. A smart ET'er spends 5...

    thoughts on harmonic patterns?

I went through the website and didn't find a lot of useful information. Generally speaking, everything peddled to retail investors/traders is fake. In the institutional world, when a bank or asset manager has a new strategy, it typically is documented with a significant level of detail so that...

The market now getting hit on Lower Yields !

You have this very warped perspective of Fed/monetary policy lol. Rates would be low regardless of QE -- it's just volatility that has been dampened (intentionally). Yields were in the news today because they have been moving lower for some time, after hitting 1.7%+ earlier in the year. Yields...

    thoughts on harmonic patterns?

Do you think he would sell his system if it was actually as successful as he claims? Why wouldn't he have raised $100MM in the 90s and turned it into a few billion by now? Because it is BS. "My system is incredible and will make you money! For just $25/mo you too can learn my ultimate trading...

is there a noob reference somewhere?

Here’s what you should look into (can watch YouTube stuff just make sure it’s legit like from a university or bank): 1. Macroeconomics (gdp, inflation, exchange rates, interest rates, monetary policy) 2. Corporate finance (basic asset pricing, corporate decisions, market participants) 3. Market...

what can be predicted and what cannot be in the market?

Lol don’t stare at a chart. Educate yourself on asset pricing and market structure. Stock prices are generally non-stationary geometric random walks. You cannot predict the next price of a stock. Stop trying to predict the price and instead try to predict outcomes of events (and what to do if...

Exclusive: China just gave a big F-U to America, hedge fund manager says

China's doing this as a form of capital control IMO. It's not about harming the US as it is about trying to control their entrepreneurs.

Why does this happen ? Please help

I'm being pedantic: A VWAP algo is going to take a % of volume with the goal of minimizing impact. If you can eye-ball the algo then it's a shitty one indeed lol. No one really uses TWAPs anymore, but it is another useful benchmark. If a stock was dominated by algos, we would see price as a...

Why does this happen ? Please help

That has nothing to do with what you said. I've read numerous books on algo's because knowing how and when to implement them was key to my role. Here is a good example of a real bank algo that investors use: Market Structure (credit-suisse.com)

Why does this happen ? Please help

I'm not sure where you get your understanding of TCA and implementation shortfall from. I was a desk trader and no one was using algos to paint head and shoulders to improve TCA or IS lol. For most large trades, a trader will seek non-exchange liquidity before lighting up.
