    The secret of daytrading

Look at the Forbes richest traders list - the only trader to make the list that could even be considered a day trader is James Simons, although most of his $ was made from swing/positional in his Medallion fund before he got into intra-day arb & front running large orders. Nearly all of the...

    The secret of daytrading

That $34M trade by CIS was a swing trade. He held a short several weeks aggressively scaling into it - he reversed to a long at the right time holding a few days. For the record, he later gave back nearly all his profits on one big loser. When a trader starts celebrating just how smart and...

    Forex? Discussion

Most of the volume these days is done by the HFTs/algo's - they are trading on the micro market without using charts at speeds from millisecond to nanosecond.

    Kratom

More & more chronic Opiate addicts are going to Costa Rica to take a trip on Ibogaine (African shrub) which invokes intense hallucinations. When the trip ends most have no withdrawal symptoms and report feeling like they did before they began using drugs, with no desire to use any more...

    Malicious trolling and stalking

If trading taught me anything is that my critical thinking works best when I swing that that big high powered spotlight around and put it on myself. Trading forums always have those making wild claims - and no shortage of naive traders that lack any level of critical thinking ... and gamblers...

Can someone tell me if the high or low of day normally happens in the start or ending of the day?

yea - that list minute of volume accounts for a good chunk, however you can see the last half hour still has more volume than the open when you remove all the MOC orders.

Can someone tell me if the high or low of day normally happens in the start or ending of the day?

As far as the regular day session goes the last 1.5 hours is the strongest trending time of day, meaning the most number of points in a directional move. The last hour has the most liquidity by a wide margin - this is when professional traders are most active. The morning session is said to be...

    Day trading and Sharpe Ratio

Source - Investopedia. (see link below) The Sharpe ratio is a good measure of risk for large, diversified, liquid investments, but for others, such as hedge funds, it can only be used as one of a number of risk/return measures. The SR is better suited to investors in something like mutual funds...

New Interview with John "Rambo" Moulton

Great interview - I really like the way he explains the 'kill switch' where many traders seem to rapidly self destruct once they feel they are on top and have accomplished their goals. Be aware of this, it is not uncommon. Its hard to think that you biggest problems may come not from some...

    Day trading and Sharpe Ratio

The Sharpe Ratio is considered to be laughable by professional traders because it punishes upside volatility as if it was downside volatility. There are better metrics for the lumpy returns that are inherit with trading such as: profit-factor, closed NAV, Calmar, and gain-to-pain to name a few.

    Diversification good or bad?

They way most of the top earning stock traders diversify is by having a portfolio both long & short, typically weighted heavier with the primary trend. The number of stocks they hold is much lower than most would think. Your world class independent stock traders typically hold a long/short...

Standing Desks Vs. Treadmill Desks Vs. Dying at My Seat

Try using a large Swiss ball. Once I used one for a few weeks I gave away my chairs - my lower back pain vanished after a week on the Swiss ball. I would never again own a chair! Its great for stretching and makes you use your core a bit - it reverses the damage /torture you get from...

Any good Order Flow Trading Strategy book suggestion?

The only time I use the DOM is for shadowing the stop gunners. The DOM provides some good clues when stop picking has been exhausted - there is a small time frame to hop on board because the gunners will often use aggressive orders to create a parabolic reversal. Retail traders/investors are...

Why do institutional traders have an advantage if any advantage is whittled away by using it?

One advantage a large operator has is stop gunning, they sit on the ask or bid and pick off the stops. The thinner the liquidity the easier this is. Another ploy they use is quietly accumulating a position - this may take weeks. Than they will aggressively buy at the ask with much smaller...
