    Emotion FREE Trading

I picked up this thread by accident...and I wish I could have more similar "accidents". I have applied specific principals already to my trading..one of them is that I have placed my order and stop loss/profit goals , set the alarms, and then move out of the software to read other things or...

Nassim Taleb on Charlie Rose: "Massive Deflation Nightmare, Roubini Too Bullish"

Hey there Pekelo, Hope you left "hard 10 " alone for awhile. Basically, the simple answer is when money supply exceeds productivity...then you have money chasing goods, therefore prices go up. Hope I haven't simplified it too much :D I don't think we need to be concerned with the...

Nassim Taleb on Charlie Rose: "Massive Deflation Nightmare, Roubini Too Bullish"

Richrf, Greed did them in but good. There are a number reasons why the dollar strengthened including the obvious, but what is not so obvious was that the Eastern bloc borrowed dollars ,, weak and weakening at the time, to invest in their respective countries and when it came to paying the...

Nassim Taleb on Charlie Rose: "Massive Deflation Nightmare, Roubini Too Bullish"

I understand your point, but isn't it ridiculous a bank can borrow from one source (Fed) at a low cost and relend it to the same source for a higher cost...the taxpayer is the sap for the benefit of a few. The mind boggles...wished I could get a deal like that.

Nassim Taleb on Charlie Rose: "Massive Deflation Nightmare, Roubini Too Bullish"

Achilles, I think I understand what you are trying to say, but the fundamental problem is the "unknown" solvency level. Liquidity...not a problem ..the Fed will print money till the cows come home; and in a sense, they might have to. Unfortunately, those that can lend are not going to...

Nassim Taleb on Charlie Rose: "Massive Deflation Nightmare, Roubini Too Bullish"

This the MAJOR problem that is going to confront us this time around compared to previous periods. We have to get handle on where the base line of solvency is and the quickest way is to unwind the financial institutions' assets/portfolios and establish a core value. Until that can be achieved...

    Worse than the Great Depression

The Chinese government have already got a handle on their problems. They will inject as much money as needed to stabilize their economy. There will not be a "severe depression" there as they will not adopt restrictive trade practices as the US did back in the 30's. The government is going to...

The value of houses have to drop significantly anyway...the only practical answer is re - organization for the auto industry. Similar to what happened to the steel industry, it may well mean that the new organization will be building specialty vehicles while the Japs, Koreans et al will be...

Why does anyone listen to Bill Gross?

He is one very smart cookie...one of my best mate's daughter works with him at Pimco...she too is no slouch, but she is in awe of his brilliance. He was also very successful at Harvard looking after their booty.
