Pro firm leverage and risk management

Don I took the 24th off as well as the rest of the week. Played /traded on Friday with triple witching and decided that opening orders/ arbitrage and a few other things aren't going to work as well this week. I'll do end of year tax buying (everyone else does selling ) in a few more...

Effects of NYSE Direct+ (aka NX)

You realize this is a belief of yours that can have a major impact on your trading don't you? Humans that have a lot of money are always crooks huh? So deep inside you don't want to do really well as you would then be a crook? Think about this belief. Does it help you in your...

Effects of NYSE Direct+ (aka NX)

I didn't vote because my choice isn't there. Easier to get executed and the same with reading the specialist. They reduced their size for a week or 2 but have returned to the normal. Keep the specialist system, when you understand how to play the game with them it is 1000 fold better than...

    Is there anyone scalping?....

There are quite a few traders at my firm who scalp NYSE stocks. One guy loves LU. (might not sound like much) but try it on 15,000 shares plus. He's has serious rebates and takes advantages of the cap on commission so he cost is less than .05 per share. He scratches the majority but when he...

What are good results for daytrading

One thing to watch out is it isn't always completely possible to enter/exit at exactly the right time. This is because when you want to buy there maybe very few sellers around and when you want to sell very few buyers around. I wonder how accurate your slippage might be. If I...

What are good results for daytrading

Some questions?? What is your worst possible drawdown? Can you tolerate this? How does this system react in non trending markets? How does it react in a bull market? How does it react in a bear? Usually one month isn't enough for backtesting. Quite a large # of systems do well in...

    Prop Trading nasdaq stocks

All NYSE stocks now have it. FRE seems to have found a way to ignore it though as per my experience with him. Some stocks it's great with the instant fills and there are times I can get a lot more than the 100 lot they sometimes show. It depends on the stock/specialist how they...

    TBonds futures trading

easy question The 30 year pit in the CBOT is full of locals. Transactions go through human hands. The e-minis are done electronically. It is possible to trade intra-day (hey I was in that pit for awhile) but look for big moves and forget about it when an F goes up on the board (fast...

Different specialist do differnt things. This is where knowing how a specialists handles orders like NX come into play. I know a few who do exactly what you say. I also have played with a lot of others who show 1x1 but I can hit him with 2000 shares and he will give me all of them.

I've traded a few different stocks. Since I am now doing arbitrage with some indexes and such I would prefer to not disclose what I am trading (more traders doing arbitrage means less opportunity for me) I have traded DIS, F , MO, CCU, IBM, LU, AK, and a few others. Robert Tharp

start thinking about this as a long term thing. Sounds like you are thinking about it as well for the next 3-6 months. Think years --not months Robert

    Prop Trading nasdaq stocks

One thing is when a stock gaps heavily enough arbitrage will soon bring it back inline as it was moved too far away from it's relation to the indexes it belongs to. There are a lot of other reasons but that's a big one. Robert Tharp

White--- no As of right now I just got a price improvement. I was offering 59.67 The bid was 59.58 and the offer was 59.62. I was offering .05 worse than the best offer. The specialist just got an order for 2900 shares (this is a thin stock today) and gapped them to 59.80...

    Prop Trading nasdaq stocks

sometimes immeadiately /sometimes delayed.--- Notice the time and sales when there is a print heavily away from the market and huge size. Those usually aren't misprints but were a market maker taking the other side of a huge order. Robert
