A Fund vs. Your Own Money

Haha... I bet you'll be surprised... Western Siberia, Russia. 17:25 here right now. :) I trade London session most of the time, rarely later into the US session after London close.

A Fund vs. Your Own Money

Thanks for the insights, Smoker. I really appreciate your detailed and informative responses! Absolutely agree on the strategy, pretty sure my is scalable into higher (and probably lower on some instruments) time-horizon which would definitely fix possible liquidity issues in exchange for...

    Surf's Special Situation Journal

This turned into a truly hilarious thread. Started with "TA doesn't work" then evolved into "those who trade TA actually don't" then into "that's possible but impossible to grow from small account".... probably I forgot something else... right... "that's possible but impossible to make profits...

Maybe that's the case for them, for me cutting losses short is one of key elements of profitability.

Definitely Surf is not interested in revealing the truth, but is interested in scandalous argument... how typical of journalists nowadays. :(

Surf, I am from the family of university professors. Ask your wife how much money do university professors have on average in Russia? Wanted to put in a smiley, but suddenly felt sad cause it's really sad how much they make compared to university professors in the US. P. S. No it wasn't local...

Oh no, don't tell me you use stop-losses? Didn't you know they are for the weak hands only, especially 6-12 tick stop-losses? :D

What % ROI per year would you consider as a "possible" to live "good lifestyle" from? Tell me the figure.

Resident Siberian psychologist was one of the people who showed you live performance record upon request and without hesitation... But you behave like it never happened and keep repeating "impossible"... mantra as you like to call it. :D

I am. But I didn't counsel for money for a long time. Trading is much more interesting to me as a business and much more profitable. Also in Russia people more likely visit some quack than a psychologist when they have problems. :D As for the evidence... If you don't know something, does it...

So you've never been able to trade for a living, you [b]tried[b] to but was unable to do it, correct? My method works for at least 4 years (as I trade it) and it worked way before that which I am 99.999% sure about. Why do you call that BS? Because your try to trade for a living failed? :)

One more question: is someone trading 1 CL/ES or whatever contract with say $10K account (just as an example) a "real" market participant or "unreal"? :)

What makes you think it's $4000? Who are "real" market participants? Why is what I do "gamblers voodoo"? Only because you don't understand it? :)

Oh, excuse me then. I had an impression you said you've never traded for a living in the sense you formulate it (close to 100% income solely from trading). Don't you mind if I ask: what instruments did you trade and what approaches did you use? Also why don't you trade now if you were...

A Fund vs. Your Own Money

Absolutely agree, for my style small private quasi-fund of size up to 7 figures or so is the realistic goal, hardly more (based on my knowledge of current liquidity of the instrument I trade). To scale up seriously to the numbers you gave strategy should be adjusted towards longer-term style...

A Fund vs. Your Own Money

I think "regular job" vs. trading on your own is eternal argument of "regular job" vs. your own business (of any kind). All comes down to personality traits. Those who prefer security in exchange for limited potential usually prefer regular job somewhere, preferably in the large corporation...

80 % fail at trend trading

I agree with wrbtrader. Some variations of pullbacks within strong trends are IMO the highest probability trade which ever existed. One just got to learn to spot those. And that is the matter of practice, dedication, patience and discipline. Maybe also some natural ability to pattern...

A Fund vs. Your Own Money

Thanks Smoker! No, not super-rich, but I basically scalp the market so every tick matters and the current bid/ask offered is quite critical liquidity wise. Still quite down the road indeed. That's good idea you have about communicating with the broker on the matter. Currently my plan is...

    AMP's lowered ON currency margins

Thanks, so they consider all GLOBEX session as a daytrade now (used to be different a few years ago if I remember right). That's good news.
