So far I am at the same stage. Intuitive, subjective behavior hurts more than helps, despite sometimes I have a very strong feel of the market, but if you rely on it, there's a risk to end up violating your rules, so I prefer to make trading as mechanical routine as possible. Be the rat! :D

See, you come closer to understanding TA... :) If you have fundamental reason to short and see a pullback, isn't it a good entry? :p

Yes, those are my favorite. Classic Dow theory reversals within the context of bigger trend are hard to beat.

What is the difference between random and "pseudo-random"?

Somewhat similar look doesn't mean exactly the same real-life behavior. At the first glance some random generated charts may look similar to real market charts, but behavior at certain points will be different, cause human behavior is not random, it's subject to repeating patterns.

In my own trading, eliminating the destructive passion to pick tops/bottoms and instead just riding the trend was probably the most important breakthrough.

How do you define bullish/bearish day? Isn't it TA? :p

My hypothesis in regard to charts is: random and "real" may look similarly indeed, but similar look and absolutely similar structure is not the same thing. Trading is a game of small edges and real market may act just slightly different, which is enough.

So if anyone is successful using charts, that's according to the topic of this thread: intuition? :) P. S. I can't say from the first glance if that's real market or random generated chart indeed.

Nope, market can offer several opportunities in different directions and even without delta being involved completely (for volatility play) simultaneously.

I wouldn't say it's subjective. Rather it's intentional isolation of some inputs in order to exploit the edge of certain patterns and not be distorted by other patterns.

What's the best futures for a beginner to trade?

Would recommend NQ or YM. Small tick size and enough liquidity/volatility. Almost non-existent slippage. Move much better during RTH (when US stock market is open).

wh$$ is going on with this market!? can't take it anymore!! help!

If speed and direction is clearly controlled, why don't you just follow those patterns you noticed?

If they are also good traders, they likely all make money in the long run, despite the opposing views. Not because chart reading is "wrong". But because every trader is focused on "his" stuff. Isolating your personal signals from the noise and intentionally "turning off" your vision of the...
