Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Now I wonder what's wrong with me that I can't trade ES. :D

Yes of course, but subliminally it programs one for a struggle, competition with the market. Not a good position for a trader, hence the market is so much stronger and is beyond our control almost completely. I would suggest using constructive terms when talking about trading. It may be...

Applicable if one really does catch those big trades. In other words consistent in general. Personally I pretty much suck at swing trading, but small day trades produce double digit return almost every month, so can't complain. :D

Why "beat" the market? It's destructive language, leads to losses eventually, because you can't "beat" the market, it's much stronger than any trader or even single fund. Your nick name suits the constructive mindset much better. :)

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Tried ES myself, but it just... doesn't move. I must be used to higher volatility overall. Euro on the other side has enough volatility most of the time plus liquidity is truly bottomless. Also like NQ very much, even more than Euro maybe.

Questions How to Get Started Trading with Probabilities

Pattern recognition. Try to notice recurring behavior patterns of a chosen market(s). Then as you think you noticed something, test them, first back test, then forward test with different parameters to see if your assumption confirmed or disproved. If confirmed, collect stats for all nuances...

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Right, no models in the book. And language is horrible. But he provides a goot overview of how price action can be analyzed in general, productive food for thought. No substitute for personal efforts, but useful basis.

Al Brooks ideas - Possible to code?

Brooks doesn't provide exact set of rules, but general ideas give good clues on what to look for. And with some persistence one can test various sets of rules applied to those concepts, eventually finding successful. Now automation is what I also started to think about lately, but not any...

Well, probably can be turned into arrows one day, so far it's a bit more complex to code, but still objective. 100% based on TA (past price/volume).

My experience so far is mixing rules with discretionary trading only suits very skilled traders. Most newbies stumble upon exactly that: discretionary factor. I observed it many, many times. So even in the case of chart pattern reading, one better "automate herself", which is probably...

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

Yep, that's what I mean. Quite the difference. Trading is a game of long-term result, where single "fights" don't matter and tactical defeat on purpose is not only normal, but an absolutey necessity. Closer to the prolonged chess game (or leading a real war) analogy, where one may purposely...

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

Little rant above led to another thesis: probably some traders would benefit from IAs while other traders need IDs (in terms presented by Tobbe), depending on their personal set of traits/issues.

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

I used to compare trading with other professions of skill, such as drivers or pilots too. But recently started to question such a belief (this wonderful thread sure helped to provoke some thinking :) ). Reason is the following: fighter pilot for example is a profession of absolute skill...

    Intuition Amplifiers 2

Clearly it is not intuition to blame, but our interpretation of it. The key problem is: how do we interpret intuitive feelings and distinguish them from random feeling, not having any value.
