Surf, you're an adult man, why act like a spoiled kid? Let's discuss trading in a civilized way to the benefit of all thread participants. Why do you all the time slip to ad hominem talk? BTW, I was ET member since early 2005 and was not attracted by "forex" here. Actually traded SIFs back...

Why don't you keep your journal as a polite discussion related to trading? If I'm wrong about anything, why if you know the truth not share it in the form of argument to enlighten your readers and inform them what the reality is? In exact detailed terms I mean, not broad slogans like "it...

Yes, I speak solely about day trading here. For value investing and other highly scalable strategies 20% is stellar. But for a moderately scalable day trader it's not something to be proud of, except maybe the fact of being a winner and not a loser, ha. :)

See the contradiction... if I'm actually able to generate some alpha then all I say is reality and not a delusion, correct? :) And if I am not, why would I be so stupid to expose myself to such a shame without any financial interest even, when you for example know my real name, saw my photo etc.?

Surf, now you're not fair. I just discussed some trading moments and you're back to accuse me being a vendor. But vendors are supposed to sell something. What do I sell if I'm a vendor?

Thank you for support, gentlemen. I seriously try to only discuss matters interesting from traders point of view and believed Surf's journal is to discuss methods and particularly Surf's trading. If someone tried to objectively discuss my own trading I would appreciate it, not try to get...

Could you please elaborate: vendor of what exactly? P. S. I always talk about trading in your journal unless you shift the discussion to personalities.

Whatever Wiki says, 100% hedge = no position. And anything that is not 100% hedge = position. Be it option spread, futures spread or whatever, it's still a position, just often synthetic and not so easily visible. If one is really interested in these complex strategies it would be much...

If I made a slightest mistake in this argument about so called "hedging", please point it out. Why do you run away from discussions instead of trying to reveal the truth?

If I even vend something, I do it openly, never hide. Moderators see everything and I am sure will take measures if something looks suspicious to them. I promise you to always be polite and only discuss actual trading, never ad hominem talks. So why should I leave? Now back to your...

If you're long stock and you buy puts you're long calls as a result. Just different synthetic position with different risk profile done with extra commissions. If you're long calls and you buy puts you're long straddle or strangle. Same deal as above, just different trade.

20%+ yearly is absolutely possible for a day trader while keeping risk per trade as small as 2% per trade and keeping a maximum PTTDD under 20% (or 10 losses in a row). Being "hedged" is a BS, because 100% hedge = no position, partial hedge = just smaller size or synthetic position in the...

Exactly. "Academics" obviously don't trade. Who cares of higher hypothetical performance if it puts you on the risk of blow-up? I perfectly know that my stops and targets probably decrease my performance big way... but my goal is consistent profit, not peak performance with huge risks. I...

Absolutely agree on risk. When I say over 20% consistently it's assumed by default that maximum PTTDD never exceeds that same 20% as well (actually I have agreement with almost all clients that if we ever plunge 30% then just say good bye for a whole program as flawed and failed). I didn't...

Surf, I already told you this and repeat: you are always welcome to open account with my futures broker and see if I can make 20%+ yearly returns for you. No need to guess or argue, if I don't you're even more welcome to expose me here as a liar and a loser. Reality is reality, harsh and...

Not to sound bold, but NoDoji is more likely somewhat my "student" than I am a student of her. :) Surprisingly for me, she took some of concepts I showed her years ago and transformed in a great method used in CL (I was doing Euro back then). Surprisingly, because I changed my own approach...

Let's not go into extremes. :) I have never claimed 1000% returns consistently (despite it's probably possible for some less liquid instruments, but I didn't do it and so refrain from the comments), but let's face it: would anyone in his/her mind day trade for 20% return on $100K account?

Surf, you've thrown my phrase out of context. Yes I consider 20% return a poor trading, when someone day trades for a living. As I said in that thread (where you didn't reply, but preferred to put this question up again here), you will NEVER get to $1 million using the same strategy in the...
