MT4 Forex Broker for 3-5K USD - Have some ideas?

Oanda is my choice for MT4 based stuff.

How did you come across your edge? Accident? Refinement of an idea? Taught?

Watched charts, read everything that people posted on the Internet related to trading and listened to what a couple of successful traders told me. After a few years setups started to "work". :D

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

IMO, averaging down is only applicable for really long-term value investment strategies. In short term trading if one has to average down it usually means his/her timing and entries suck.

    Buy support, sell resistance. :)

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Yesterday is the perfect example of fundamental factor in action. Italy concerns added to the rest of Euro-zone problems favoured shorts big way. Another example of fundamental factor was market rally on surprise ADP data last Thursday. Fundamentals act as filters for entry signals, when they...

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

And a little bit back in 2008 (thread you once mentioned)... :p

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

As an example, read bighog's old posts (2005) about trading ES. If that is not true wisdom coming from the real trader then I don't know what is. P. S. How do you think, is there anything in this world that worries me less than someone believing that I am losing? :D I see no reason in...

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Price action with fundamental factor added to some of the setups.

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Same experience relates to volatility plays as well as outright directional plays (about which I said in the previous post). There are times, when volatility expansion is far more likely to happen than if buy volatility randomly.

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Statistical information collected about all setups I use and many I don't use (because their stats did not satisfy me). Statistical information also provided evidence for me, that random entries with whatever exit strategy have nowhere near the edge of quality entries made at the levels...

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Well, I would say it's the reverse. I believe in my system, because it has proven itself to be profitable with certain outcome probabilities. I don't believe system becomes profitable only due to the fact you believe it is. :)

Are Exits more important than Entries?

I think Lucias just explained it the best way. Entries and exits are not something separate to be compared, only a certain combination of them makes a good or bad trading strategy. For example, I like to enter on EURUSD support/resistance bounces using a very tight (6 pips) stop and trying to...

    - - - 6e Euro Chat Room ? ? ? - - -

StockTwits is a good resource, I post there myself. As for the Euro related chat room... Well, I won't spam here violating ET terms (despite I don't charge anything and looking for exactly that too - exchange of ideas, insight etc)... :p I trade the spot EURUSD forex pair though, not 6E...

Are Exits more important than Entries?

Different exits may make the strategy winning or losing, but entries, which provide the edge at all are still more important, because without good entries, managing exits will not help you. I don't think random entries work no matter how good your exits are. So my opinion is: entries are #1...

    Price Action only Trading

Myself I did not succeed with using indicators, but know a few people who use them very effectively. Of course not in a dumb way of "buy when yellow line crosses the blue one :) ). Indicators are used as additional clues for price action based entries and thus there's no lag.

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

You must be just reading not those posters, who deserve it. :D There were and still are some true gems, but as with the real gems, one must filter out tons of the mud to find them. :p

To become a better trader: Passionate vs Making Money

I agree with you, that heavyweight has become very boring lately. But my point was not that, it was that first comes the professional skill, money comes after it. So one's focus better be on becoming a good pro in the chosen profession, rather than on the money itself. And it is actual...

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

Thanks for the kind words. Actually, I met people who taught me to trade @ ET as well a few years ago. Some of them are still active posters. So hanging around here is a kind of an old habit already, rather than an act of intentional altruism (if speak honestly). :)

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

    1. Trade since March 2005. And soon after started, began to collect and write down all stats, observations etc. 2. Yes, the only market I day trade is Euro. Trade stocks as well, but mostly longer term using options. 3. I traded different SIF's (from HSI to ES), Eurex traded bund and...

Trading with a Stop Loss in the Futures Market is for Losers

Of course. I keep all the detailed stats in a spreadsheet with new data added to the averages daily for my every trade setup. Thousands of trades. I know all nuances of them better than my own palm. And of course those setups are not as primitive as just "ascending triangle". Two similarly...
