Why does TA not work (for you)?

Great. :) My logic is also: any game has two sides and what's great about the market, they cannot hide their actions. Everything they do is shown in price and volume history... And they don't invent the new trick every day, rather have "habits" which create a "market character"... which...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

No idea smarter or not, as I said I cannot post calls in format of a thread due to fast day-trading nature of my trades. But I'll shows you something around Christmas as I promised, so you can judge if that's plain stupid luck or not. :) P. S. Some other traders in this thread (won't point...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Well if that's so and someone intentionally traps people into TA setups, it's the greatest news ever for a TA trader, because it means behaviour of those who try to trap people can be "cracked" and parasitized upon. :p

Why does TA not work (for you)?

And here we switch from TA to 24H charts vs. SPX charts holy war. :D

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Ditto if I traded ES or NQ, would prefer 24H, especially nowadays, when global news affect the markets more than ever and US RTH action is often just a handover from the European session. Plus what are gaps if not just the same trading activity driving the price up or down pre-mkt... Better...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

You find the "right" or "wrong" way of applying TA to each instrument through the trial and error. For instruments like ES both "RTH only" and "24H" charts probably "work" well... Somehow, different tricks "work" better in some markets than another.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Yes, you are right, if you pay attention to keeping things under the cover it's probably not going to go in the wild and be exploited to death... unless someone who has access to your orders etc. pays attention to them. :) Maybe I am wrong about it, can't really prove or deny this statement...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Yea, it's a mix of rules and intuition. Simple rules are used as base for intuition development... Just like sports or any other form of art/craft.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

No problem. :) My entries are mostly rule-based indeed (while still consider the context usually), as well as hard-stop loss is always pre-defined, but what happens in between the entry and exit (for a profit or a loss) is indeed much dependant on the real-time action. But honestly I think...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Not at all. I would never say it's "magic power of TA" which makes a trader, just the opposite: that as you said, intuitive feel and understanding of typical patterns expressed by regular market participants appears as you watch charts long enough. Can be not necessarily charts, can also be an...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

The fact random chart and market chart look somewhat similarly does not prove that trading them will lead to the same result. Only that they look somewhat similarly.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Can't promise 1000 trades, but I'll contact you around Christmas (publicly in a form of ET thread) so that you and others can also publicly judge if what I have to show you is a result of just luck or something else. Deal? :)

Why does TA not work (for you)?

So, Surf, how many trades recorded at 3rd party platform would convince you TA trading is possible?
  14. cornix

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Yea, people better be more tolerant to English level of us, for whom it's the second language, doubt many of ET'ers would write in Russian for example at least as well. :D

Why does TA not work (for you)?

It wasn't quite the answer to my question, which is: do you consider trading this way to be unprofitable or profitable activity in the long run? If you allow, would you please also add, how many trades would you consider "the long run".

Why does TA not work (for you)?

This is an important matter you touched. Indeed in the case of discretionary (to some degree at least) trading intuition plays certain role and a person with inner beliefs that successful trading is "impossible" will repeat minor mistakes when choosing and managing trades, so that s/he...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

OK, but overall as you state TA entries are actually random, with money management applied is it a profitable activity or unprofitable?
  18. cornix

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Do you believe random entries with money management make profits or losses on average in the long run?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Our brother Surf seems to be fishing for track records here... :p

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Only those two companies or some other clearly legit 3rd party resource is fine too?
