    Interactive Brokers Hedging

When I play craps I always play the come and don't come at the same time. I move all my winnings to the roulette wheel where I bet black, red and green. I then go to the baccarat table and bet both the bank and the player. It's genius!

    SNAP

I agree. I thought the vol would be higher. Next week 23 straddle for 1.40 seems cheap to me as well.

    SPXPM and SPXW

For those of you who trade SPXPM options, on May 1 they will convert to SPXW options. So regular SPX will expire in the morning (monthly only) and all SPXW options (including the former SPXPM) will expire in the afternoon...

    IBKRATS

Not sure what Ibkrats means, but all options orders are traded on an exchange. They can't be traded in a dark pool. The order may be looked at, but the cross or trade must take place on an options exchange, of which there are many. Edit, thought you were talking about options, not stocks.

    Short Availability

Hate to jump in on page 7 of this Sig, but this really isn't the case. The way the profit is made from the options is being short the stock and then shorting the put and buying the call. Here you are in a reversal. You have sold the combo way over fair value and are neutral because you are...

    IB Quits options game!

A single exchange example is the CBOE trading SPX and VIX options. The cost to trade these products is about double for me vs all other products because of their high exchange fees. So competition is good in this sense.

    IB Quits options game!

Here is the article https://www.streetinsider.com/Corporate+News/Interactive+Brokers+(IBKR)+to+Close+Options+Market+Making+Operations/12647473.html Ha, never mind, see it was posted earlier

    Price WAR!

This is due to the high exchange fees charged by the CBOE for the SPX. If you are trading SPX or VIX options you can be much better off with higher commissions at firms that don't pass on the exchange fees.

    TWTR options pricing question

Yes, when the put is deep enough in the money. If you buy the stock and the put for parity, you are synthetically buying the same strike call for zero, plus the cost to carry the stock to expiration and commissions. Here the 19 call is only trading for .05. so you can tell they should be...

    TWTR options pricing question

They are valuing the puts at about parity, thus to make money a market maker would have to buy them slightly below parity.

    SPX Vol under 5

Vol in weekly SPX at the money options is 4.6 (Wed expiration calls) and under 6 for Fridays weekly expiration at the money options. Don't ever remember seeing it this low. Not sure it means anything other then very little movement is expected.

How do I manage risk of ITM exercise of SPY options

Another option would be to trade SPX options. They have Monday, Wednesday and Friday weekly options, and they are cash settled so you will never need to worry about an exercise.

Very Profitable Position Force Liquidated After 999% House Maintenance Margin Met

@NoBias covered what I wanted to say very well. I would add that you are very focused on the percentage move that you were safe. Was this a $3 biotech stock? Was it a takeover candidate? Was it an index that rarely moves? This is why we need to know what stock and option you are short. A...

Overnight trading in SPX and VIX options

Bob, do you know if Wedbush clears these trades? Unfortunately Apex doesn't, even though I can trade them through my platform.

Very Profitable Position Force Liquidated After 999% House Maintenance Margin Met

Ok, I will jump in on this. First it is not "unprecedented to increase the house margin requirements when a position has moved profitably for the customer" This is done all the time by all the brokers, due to concentration, changes in risk requirements due to market conditions, etc. It would...

Overnight trading in SPX and VIX options

Is anyone aware of a firm other than IB that allows trading in the overnight session (2am to 815am ct) for SPX and VIX options?

    Option question

Yes, you could make an immediate profit by buying the stock and exercising the put. But this won't happen. You might as well be asking if you go to your bank and buy a $20 bill for $10 will I make money? If you are seeing this price, it is wrong, perhaps stale, or a last price. Things don't...

    Option question

Here is your problem. You are suggesting that you can buy the 19 strike put with the stock at 17.60 for .80. Yes if you could do that you would make an immediate profit. The problem is that this won't happen. The put has an intrinsic value of 1.40 so you won't buy it at .80.
