    Selling SPX boxes for interest

Well, IB is paying around 1% on credit balances, other brokers zero. So if you had free cash it may be worth it. Also it could be great to borrow at that rate as well. Cost to put this position on would be about $3 per 300,000 as you are only trading 2 contracts.

    Selling SPX boxes for interest

To explain this a bit better. You buy the SPX June 500 call, and the SPX June 3500 put. To complete the box you would also sell the June 500 put and the June 3500 call. The last two are both at zero, so the trade that took place today only included the "meat" of the box and the legs that were...

    Selling SPX boxes for interest

Lots of smaller trades, 5 lots or less throughout the day, not too many total, under 50 last I saw, but all were at 2987.05 for the June monthly expiration, 3500 put, 500 call. I realize that's not a lot in total, but its a good representation of where you could be filled as many smaller lots...

    Selling SPX boxes for interest

Noticing the June 3000 (500 call, 3500 put) point box trading in the SPX today for an effective yield of about 2.2% (annual). So if you bought 1 box it would equal lending $300,000. Commissions minimal as only the two deep sides trade, so depending on your rate, just a couple of bucks as it is...

    VXX Afterhour Options

If you are long VXX options, you have until 530pm et to exercise that option on expiration day. (Different brokers may have earlier cut off times in order to give themselves time to process the trade). With the VXX, things can happen that effect the VXX price after the option market closes at...

    Protecting a covered call position

Pekelo, to add a bit, If you decide to exit your position, put it in as a spread, both the call and the stock together. Most likely the calls have a wide quoted market as they are deep in the money. The spread market should be fairly tight.

    Protecting a covered call position

You are wrong. Its that simple. -Covered Calls = Bullish -Long Stock = More Bullish The delta on 100 shares of stock is 100. The delta on a 1 covered call, is 100 - whatever the delta on the corresponding put is.

    Protecting a covered call position

You are wrong. Long stock and short a call is not neutral, it is bullish. How bullish would depend on the corresponding put.

    Protecting a covered call position

The potential profit in your position is whatever the corresponding put is trading for (same strike as the call you are short) This is what you can make if you leave the position alone. If you buy that put you are locking in whatever profit you have in the position, or you could simply take...

what do discount brokerage firms think about Robinhood?

Can someone confirm if Robinhood allows trading in SPX and VIX options? If yes, do they charge the exchange fees?

If VIX is a measure of implied volatility in S&P options...

Calls are also exercised early in hard to borrow stock, in order to get long stock, which will happen quite frequently.

Terrible SPX and RUT bid/ask spreads but ES spreads better

Was told 2nd quarter. Not sure when exactly, they are in the process of taking applications for market makers to stream quotes. Here is the original circular. http://www.cboe.com/publish/regcir/rg17-136.pdf

Terrible SPX and RUT bid/ask spreads but ES spreads better

The SPX monthly AM options are quoted differently then the weekly and pm options. They will have a wider quoted market, but generally the same "inside" market. So even if you see a 1 wide market, the "real" market is generally much tighter. This will change soon, as the SPX monthly options...

floor trading for yourself vs day trading on computer?

There are still a few pits trading on the floor. The SPX and VIX at the CBOE being the main ones. The people in there generally are in larger well capitalized groups.
