Look for a vix mark up for this mornings settlement. A lot of buyers of SPX Feb options on the opening.

TLRY borrow cost reaches 900% a year

Crazy, yesterday I was assigned on 2 calls, that's 200 shares (was a hedged position, time spread). I bought it back today. The rate I was quoted yesterday was 650%, so I paid around $250 just to be short the stock 1 day! At 900% you are paying $2 a day, per share! So the stock has to fall 2...

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

Great to hear. This is another reason you should make sure you are not paying a "ticket charge" along with commissions. It allows you to work small orders on different exchanges to find the best price.

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

Another trading tip is using the COB to fill individual orders. For example, I trade a lot of back month options. Say you want to buy a Jan 2021 20 put in a 50 stock. The quoted price is 2-3. I know through trial and error that the "inside market" the market that some is willing to fill a...

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

This is almost never the case, you will almost always get a better fill entering a spread as a spread and sending it to the COB. You also won't risk missing one leg. The markets on most spreads are very tight in relation to the individual quoted legs. You won't know what that spread market is...

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

With IB what you see when you enter a spread is the price using the best quoted bid and ask, but if that exact spread is currently in the COB, they will show you that bid/offer. You can't actually see the COB though with IB

IBKR Smart route and order fills.

I trade a lot of multiple legged option spreads. The exchange it is sent to has a big effect on the fill price. The exchange that offers the most rebates generally does not give you the best fills, and as mentioned in previous posts, rebates are a big factor in where the order is sent using a...

Request advice almost blew up account

If you want to hold long term and reduce margin, I think your best bet is simply buy an in the money long term call. For example the Jan 2020 15 calls are trading about 6.60. So with the stock at 19.90, you are only paying about an extra 1.70 in premium over the stock price. This will limit...

    Robinhood options errors

So it appears that Robinhood may have switched option call and puts orders last week. It seems that they were down most of Wednesday as well. Reports on Reddit and other locations give examples of people being filled at outrageous prices on their orders that correspond with the put prices if...

Who is wrong, AMP or the CME?

DT margin of $400 is insane. That's only an 8 point move, when we are getting 50 point moves a day.

Robinhood offering 3% on savings, absolutely amazing!

CNBC was reporting that the accounts would be covered by SIPC and not the FDIC. In an interview today on CNBC , Robinhood said they would make money from the fees they get from the merchant when a debit card is used and they would invest the money in "government securities". I wish the host...

Help! Does Anyone Have Price Data From Friday?

Hey Bob, I was hoping you would jump in on this thread. How come neither leg is listed in time and sales at the prices the OP stated (the 171's were at a slightly different price, but the 170.5's , not at all) and what the heck does OTC mean as an exchange. They trade has to be at least...

Help! Does Anyone Have Price Data From Friday?

Also if you intend on trading expiring options late in the day and don't have the margin to cover an exercise/assignment, I would suggest you trade cash settled indexes such as the SPX. Here you wont have to worry about late day liquidations.

Help! Does Anyone Have Price Data From Friday?

The 3 lot I saw was at 1.89 and not 1.86 and no trades in the 170.5's so I am confused on how, where and at what price you were liquidated at. Clearing firms can't trade these things internally, the must be traded on an exchange. That's not to say that an order might be sold to another firm...

Help! Does Anyone Have Price Data From Friday?

So apparently I do have access to this. Looking back I see a 3 lot of 171 puts traded at 3:18:58et at 1.89 on the Amex. This was not a spread trade. The market at the time was 1.86x2.41. But I do not see the 170.50 puts trading here. I searched from 3:00 to 4:00pm et and the only 170.50...

Help! Does Anyone Have Price Data From Friday?

I don't have access to historical price data, but I would be curious if you were liquidated as a spread and what exchange it was sent to.

I believe its a stand alone. I've looked at it the past few years at the FIA conference, and its really good. Far more then I need now, but its worth a look.
