Scaling in: martingale vs incrementally, which is best?

Thanks! I'm going to test half-position stops vs scale-ins. I'm long both bullish SPXL TNA and bearish SPXS TZA etc, roughly equal capital. Goal is to add to winners and take small stops on losers, using 2day high and lows

Scaling in: martingale vs incrementally, which is best?

The big challenge is how to scale into and out of opposite bias ETFs to turn potentially breakeven into profitable. Example pairs = TNA/TZA FAS/FAZ SVXY/VXX SPXS/SPXL

Scaling in: martingale vs incrementally, which is best?

For those who scale into and out of swingtrades, what's your favorite strategy? Martingale = 100, 100, 200, 400 Vs Incremental = 100, 100, 100, 100 I'm asking because I'm testing my ETF hedge strategy, I'm long bullish SPXL/TNA plus bearish SQQQ/SPXS etc, goal is to scale into winners...

Why trading educators talk about entries 95% of the time?

Good point; it depends on the audience a) I love teaching, I came from Fortune 500 corporate training background: http://daytradinguniversity.com/clients.htm b) I focus on smart experienced traders; many of my longtime customers are age 40+ and are pilots, engineers, healthcare professionals...

Like i said the rally has been much much more amazing than the decline was

Finally broke 3000 and am surprised not more 3day bear pullbacks during recent run. I still think that a major selloff is possible soon. If so it'll likely be hard with cb halts etc But in the meantime I trade what I see like TNA PENN CGC etc in addition to inverses which have been terrible...

    S&P close to 3000 key res 200sma -- strategy?

Good point, though SQQQ LABD bounced. Many days posting gains recently have had similar gap up then sideways moves. Not sure what to make of that.

    S&P close to 3000 key res 200sma -- strategy?

What's interesting is the gap up led to a choppy flat day followed by selling eod Both the gap and in-market price action are important. Notably we did not close over 3000, though 2991 is close.

Grant, any relation ? There is a resemblance lol And as I've stated before, my room has been popular since 2000 because of the focus on training; I make no profitability nor performance claims per compliance regs

Wrong.... nowhere do I claim to be a master, and my live room is called Trading the Open, popular with smart traders since 2000. The testimonials from traders speak for themselves... because I work hard to help people. I'm a UCLA grad, real trader and I teach pattern daytrading to thousands.

Should we use the 200 day EMA or SMA?

Excellent points. Most used is 200SMA, eg S&P 3000. Main reason to follow it is solely to be aware of what other traders are looking at. Remember as with all squiggly lines they're not useful in isolation, price action, volume and ranges/volatility generate actionable signals. The better...

Why trading educators talk about entries 95% of the time?

Re trading strategies one important consideration is the strength or lack thereof of the S&P and adjust accordingly. Lately small choppy low VIX sessions and whipsaw days make it tough to scale consistently.
