    Emini Divergence revisited

I'm not much into reading other people's journals, but from what I've seen, the "Emini Divergence Journal" by no_pm_please was one of the best. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20761 He basically taught a very solid system and did it with great clarity. I have been...

    Obtaining Funding/Trading Capital

Where do you hold your accounts, and what products are you trading? Could you not look at operating your business under the umbrella of an organization or group that would offer you leverage on your existing capital? Like a professional stock trading firm, or a direct relationship with a...

    Currency exchange at IB

I think the markup the last time I exchanged currency at a bank was about 2%. You'll do much better through IB.

    jpm/one

Was anyone trading this after hours? Once the actual price of the deal came out, the spread was at a huge discount for a little bit before the stocks halted. You had to be quick on the calculator though to figure it out and get a trade off (spread trade I mean).

Comments on eSignal 7.x and above

Yes, but I like to show decimals in my other futures charts. As far as I know, I have to delete the specs.tab file as a work around to make them display decimals. The turns the bonds scale to decimals (1/100ths). Is there a way to get them to both display the way I want?

Do you give friends/family trading advice when asked?

I just say that I have no idea what the market or a stock is going to do. The only advice I give is to always use a stop.

    Best firm for leverage

Gotcha. I'm pretty sure that's a Bright or SLK charge, and not a mandated SEC one. I pay an interest charge based on my net leveraged long or short exposure over the month, but it's considerably less than that.

    Best firm for leverage

As a partner in a professional firm, I have access to whatever leverage I need to trade my strategies. Some firms may cap that at a certain % of capital, others may be more liberal. To be honest, I don't even know what my real limit is. I just take trades as I see them, and there's always...

    Best firm for leverage

I'm not following you here. Are you saying the SEC charges 1/2% of the leveraged amount of your holdings at month end? Or did you mean plain old SEC fees on the dollar value of every share sold? Where did you get the info on the 1/2% a month amount? Thanks

    Best firm for leverage

Sounds like you are describing haircut fee here. Don't know that it's an SEC thing, since it's a negotiable charge at some firms. I trade with Assent and my main strategy involves holding trades for up to two months. I am hedged for the most part (longs vs. shorts) but do get 'lopsided' by...

    trading models...

If your model is based on pure arbitrage, you can be sure that more competition will reduce your profitability. I don't mean some theoretical value arb, but where the advantage goes to whoever can identify a price discrepancy and wipe it out the fastest.

    RRSP question (canadians)

You can trade anything you want, as much as you want. The 30% rule is the maximum foreign content allowed in your account. It's based on what you paid, not current value. If you had 30% foreign content, and that portion of your account doubled in value, you don't have to pare it back to stay...

What is the maximum drawdown you would be prepared to take?

That depends to a great degree on the potential reward. I might not risk 10% to gain 10%, but would do it to gain 50%. Also depends on the risk. If it's a true abritrage trade where there's no risk if executed right, then I'd bet a lot more than on a directional trade.

Maximizing Profitabilty - Stocks or ???

What do you have against margin? If your system has a solid edge, why not maximize it within acceptable risk limitations? Futures are an obvious answer to your question because of the leverage they offer. But that's essentially margin also.
