    Short sale myth?

All short positions must be done in a margin account, since you are borrowing the shares. As the price moves in your favor, your equity in the position increases. You can apply this equity as collateral and continue to increase your size as the trade works out. You don't have to cover and...

    Prop firm in Canada, BC?

Just some cash and the ability to pass the Series 7 test administered by the NASD. It used to be $25k, don't know if that's still the case. You have to be sponsored to write the series 7. Whichever firm you decide to trade with will sponsor you. Buy the books on ebay, study a couple weeks...

Are you happy with your career?

I trade full time and LOVE it. The only job I've ever had where I could not wait for Monday, where I'd try to sneek in extra work if I wasn't doing anything else, just because I like doing it. But I feel like it's in my blood, like I was born to do this. I definitely have a passion for it...

    Is Tapereading dead?

I trade off the tape on extremely low volume listed stocks and it works just like in the olden days. No games, real size, bids you can lean on and they'll stay there, etc. Just that it's hard to get off any substantial size unless you can get in on a large print.

Did someone steal Harrytrader's moniker? Four paragraphs and I understood them all. Way to go Harry! Did you stop taking mind-altering drugs, or are you on new medication that has cleared the fog? :p

Paris Hilton, sex tape, website - LOL

Yeah, I saw that too. He said he's "a little" ashamed, but was pretty flippant about the whole thing. And what does he plan to do with the money he earns selling the higher quality version of the tape? "take time off and go surfing" Hey, at least he's honest about it.

    Assent

I've been remote with them for a year now, and make a couple trips a year to the office that I trade out of to catch up on what's new. I'm very happy with the software, it's fast and reliable. I have heard of problems in the past with remote traders on the citrix system who were on the New...

No Bullets....vix At 16 And Collapsing

I agree, for the pure intra-day day trader, it's much harder than past years. Some still have niches that are profitable, but the pie is smaller for everyone. But I have to ask, if you are a trader and your game is dying, why continue to beat your head against the wall and just hope it...

    trader's step for winning

I'd say that is a fair description of what most new traders go through. It took me 7 years before I got wise enough to pass step 14. Three years later and I'm now between 37 & 38. Personally, I think the two biggest take-aways from that list is that 1, you must always take full...

    Tax advise in Canada

I'm in the top tax braket, and plugged my income into WinTax for a rough estimate of what I'll owe. Before any retirement plan contributions, my effective rate came out to about 35% of what I made. I'm a full time professional trader and claim everything as ordinary income, taxed at the full rate.

    SSF quotes in esignal

I can't get them to work. I'm subscribed for data from OneChicago. Esignal central and their symbol look up was of no help. For example, I'm trying to get a March MMM ssf quote. It should be MMM1C H4 right? Or is it something else? Thanks for any help

    Capital Access Anyone?

Why not get licensed and join a professional firm? It's bascially just a retail account on steroids. Put up a nominal amount of cash (way less than $100k) and get all the buying power you want. Lots of guys make a good living with $25k or less in capital. Do a search of this site, the...

    Paying for DirctTV in Canada

I'm in Canada and want to subscribe to DirecTV. I don't want to pirate signals, I have a US address and want to pay a normal monthly subscription fee. For those who are doing this, what's the best way for me to proceed? Can I use an ExpressVu or StarChoice dish and buy a DirecTV receiver...

    Mazda Speed RX-8

Yes, that was a great commercial. If you are talking luxury suv's you've got to include the Volvo XC-90. I've got 5 weeks to go until my 6 cylinder, twin turbo arrives and I can't wait. Awesome vehicle. I wanted a third row seat, so I didn't look at the Lexus, but it is also a fantastic...

How can I trade corporate debt?

I want to trade corporate debt, the kind of stuff that is generally only available to institutions. I don't have a million dollars to set up my own prime broker account. Can any kind of firm that already has access to these markets, maybe a prop firm or hedge fund, somehow facilitate me? I...
