Man, am I glad I'm a day trader

Because they don't understand it and can't do it, therefore they bash it. It's human nature, you find that in all things.

Don's openings and more for 2005

Sorry to disappoint. + 3700 on 18 positions. Very busy, thought I woulda done better too. No bad losses, just out some winners too soon. With that many fills, I don't trade very effieciently. Corey

    Holding Positions All Day!

I've been experimenting with a system for a while now that enters on the opening print and exits on the closing print. It only trades nyse securities which support limit and market orders that only execute on the first and last print of the day (LOO, MOO, LOC, MOC)

    Trader P/L 2005

Yeah, I've got some pretty serious buying power. But you have to realize that while the number is very big, it does not translate to trading with that much exposure, not even close. The reason the firm needs to give me a lot is to enter opening orders. For example if I enter 120 stocks x...

    Trader P/L 2005

Good day again, capping second best week of the year for me. My third acct was down 300 today, options positions up huge, but they are credit spreads, so I don't count them until they're closed out. Have a good weekend all.

    SPX Credit Spread Trader

I had Oct 1175/60, which I rolled out to 1140/25 last week. Put on more contracts so I didn't lose anything there. Took a .40 loss rolling Nov 1160/50 to 1140/25 today. Holding my breath on some Oct 1160/45 puts. I wouldn't mind some Oct scalps tomorrow, but am hesitant to add any...

Don's openings and more for 2005

Having your system go down more often would probably boost your profitability Don. Then you wouldn't be able to take only a nickel profit on a 40 cent move. :) Two great days in a row for OO's here. +6k yesterday, +4300 today. I totally blew two good trades today too, cost me probably...

    Delphi bankrupted !!!

??? Don't be sorry, it's a good thing. DAL received a delisting notice after friday's close because they are below the 30 day $1 per share requirement that the NYSE has. DNT hasn't be delisted.

    Delphi bankrupted !!!

Pretty much. I am long some Delta preferreds at $3.50 and collected my first quarterly dividend last week of 51 cents. Annual yield, 58%. Obviously a highly speculative trade, and that dividend could be suspended anytime, but so far, so good.

    Delphi bankrupted !!!

The coupon on the preferred is 8.25%. Delta has some preferreds with similar coupons and they traded under $3 after the bankruptcy announcement, but then moved up (a little). Each situation is unique though. Where did you hear 10-20 cents on the dollar?

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

Ken, I wasn't referring to you personally in my post, so please don't take any offense. Yes, we're openly discussing the realities of trading in this thread. My argument is that these realities are so self-evident than anyone contemplating entering the business would fully know them ahead of...

The Real Cost of being a Proprietary Equity Trader

It sounds like that article is basically saying that day trading can be tough, that you can encounter all sorts of problems and that you won't necessarily make as much as the advertisements claim. And the premise of your sounding the alarm bells on the dangers of prop trading (although I...
