Basket Trading: What firms provide it?

Evolution Capital. They have prop and retail divisions. Baskets are executed through HydraTrade software. I trade baskets daily and think the basket capabilities of the software are excellent. You can pm me if you want more details.

IB's new limit on open orders

C'mon IB, how about some response? I'm talking to traders throughout the day and you are losing customers BY THE HOUR as this new limitation makes it impossible for some people to trade with you. You've effectively shut them down. Get rid of this ridiculous limit and just beef up the...

IB's new limit on open orders

Same thing happened to me today. I put out about 900 orders pre market and got a new pop up notification that I had too many open orders and had to wait for some to cancel before submitting more. This caused TWS to lock up, which affected other programs which meant I had to re-boot my...

Where do REAL day traders chat?

I'm on IM with about 4 other traders during the day, but we all know that if there is no reply to a message it's because the other guy's busy. Our office recently set up an audio/text chat with the head trader calling out trades and talking like on an inter-office squawk box. It's been...

Monitoring 200 stocks w/ alerts based on price

You can set price alerts in esignal just by right clicking on the chart at the price you want. Pretty easy and quick. If your alerts are based on some kind of formula or a simple new high/low, I''d use excel with dde from any vendor.

The one thing we dont need to hear

You mean they just froze everything firm wide? How many traders does this affect? Kinda scary Who wants to start a pool on how long it will take Don Bright to remind us how well capitalized Bright Trading is and that they've had the same clearing firm since 1978? I'm taking 19:25 EST

Anyone knows about Hydratrade Technology platform

I've been trading on it for a year. Fast and stable, pretty customizable. Excellent basket trading functions. Very good tech support. It's still having features added to it and has room for improvement, but overall I'm extremely pleased with it.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

.... Most of your assumptions are wrong. How you arrived at 12.8% doesn't seem to make sense either. "Worth it" is a personal decision. There is definitely opportunity cost because you are tied up trading one strategy and might be missing other good trades. I'm only up $15k net on this...

    What's your #trades & %return YTD?

Your poll will be meaningless to a lot of the traders here because, as has been pointed out, they trade the firm's or clearning house's money. Their own cash is basically put up as collateral, and at some places, they don't put up any cash at all. If you make $20,000 on a basis of zero...

How long do you plan to trade for...

If that's the case, then you are doing something wrong. Big swinging gamblers have high odds of going down in flames, but all the serious professionals I know take 1000's of small bites with minimal risk and pull back big time when things aren't working. I'm only 35 but can see the...

    Trader P/L 2006

Sometimes you're the hammer, and sometimes you're the nail. Today IBM was the hammer, and my ass was the nail. Short some size on the open and smoked within minutes. If the day had begun at 9:45 instead of 9:30, I'd have actually done alright. My other accounts were slightly positive...

    Trader P/L 2006

One of those days where nothing worked. Out of 7 strategies in play today, 5 were red and the two winners didn't amount to a lot. Total -$2700 on 194,000 shares

    Trader P/L 2006

All strategies performed well today except for one real stinker, otherwise coulda been a real smokin' day. Portfolio was up $800, automated system up $750. Overall grossed $5000 on 104,000 shares.

    Trader P/L 2006

I'll try to post every day for this week. Today was very slow, only traded 68,000 shares. Netted only a few hundred dollars, but I'm pretty happy with that considering I was down $3,500 30 minutes into the day with no apparent way out.

    Is your trading improving?

I'm not trading better, but I'm trading more things. I implemented several more strategies and I'm definitely busier this year So far not really making more, still doing a lot of tweaking, plus there's less easy money for some of my core strategies, but the new stuff is taking up the slack.

    Trader P/L 2006

Fairly average day for me. Got lucky on some arb trades with some size, dug myself out of a $1000 hole in the morning for a small win. Spent the afternoon unwinding two dozen poorly timed trades in some really thin stocks. Did well to scratch out a break even there. The auto system was...

    Need: Strategies for day trading

I'm looking for day trading strategies too. If you have any that work, pm them to me. Only the ones that make money though. If it's automated and you want to include the code too, I'd be ok with that. Thanks in advance...

    Trader P/L 2006

Why would you think his blotter is bs? If everyone had to post every day, we'd soon have no one left posting (almost there now). It's a hassle to post every day, especially if you trade multiple accounts on multiple computers (as Patrick does) and it doesn't really serve much of a point...
