    Prop firm business model

There are two main models. The first, more common in futures markets, is where the firm hires traders as employees and teaches them to trade. They trade the company's money at close to cost and the firm makes money by splitting profits with the traders. The second, which is how most...

Mechanical strategy trading at prop firms

I'm in the process of having a few of my systems black boxed for the firm I trade with. They aren't a site sponsor so I dont' want to violate ET's site guidelines and mention them here. Anyone who is interested though, pm me and I can provide you with details.

Mechanical strategy trading at prop firms

There's a number of firms that can accomodate automated traders. Your choice of firm, aside from the usual attributes you'd look for, are going to be the api of their execution software, and if they can co-locate machines for you, if you need that.

Tell me the rules of Trading....

Not really a rule but in a way kinda. I preach this mantra to every new trader who asks me for advice. The three goals of trading, in order of importance. 1. Preserve capital 2. Earn consistent returns 3. Earn large returns. The 'rule' part is - don't try to skip any steps.

    Go futures go!

http://rulebook.cme.com/Rulebook/Chapters/pdffiles/005.pdf Page 44 of that doc talks about CME globex bust policy. The market's coming down to a point now where if I cover here and they come back and pin it on me, it wont' be that big a deal to be long. I'm bidding 75.50, but getting itchy...

    Go futures go!

Yeah, I hope those trades aren't busted. I covered 3 of my 10 at 79.50, maybe I better hold the rest so I don't end up short tomorrow morning. If they do bust, they better make a decision soon.

    Go futures go!

I can't think of many news events that would sustain a move like that. I tell ya, I never punched up ccn.com so fast in my life, not that any news site would responds as quick as the market. I don't think Japan is open yet either, fat finger is the only thing I can figure. My 76.5 bid awaits....

    Go futures go!

Yeah, i'm sitting here at the computer doing some work and spoos just rocketed, what? 20+ points. Nothing on the news I can find, by the time I pull up tws to sell, it's dropping a point a second! Tried to sell 90's, down to 84 before I could sell. Shoulda went market. Sure was exiting though.

    MOC order ?

MOC is a market order, so as long as it's in on time you are guaranteed a fill. Has to be submitted no more than 20 minutes before the close. The price you get will have nothing to do with where the stock opened.
