    Fees going up on listed

Yes, I'd like a link to a statement from the exchange pointing this out if someone has one. So far the few firms I've contacted have not adjusted for this change, and don't seem to know about it.

    Will I need a license??

My comment was referring to the retail LLC arrangement whereby a few partners pool money, get a clearing arrangement together and let their traders open retail accounts, but extend them intra-day leverage from the LLC's funds. Some hedgefunds do this too. I know you look down on this...

try to find a good broker in Canada

If you are looking for a non-RRSP trading alternative, look at Tuco Trading. They're a US based firm offering SIPC insured retail accounts and prop (licensed or non-licensed). Opening an account with a Canadian address is not a problem. IB is the clear alternative if you want to trade more...

    Will I need a license??

There are many firms offering prop trading without requiring any licensing. Look up 'retail LLC'. There's dozens of them.

Don's Openings and More for 2006

Agree on the hybrid stocks. Gotta give 'em more room. Might have to go in with smaller size and add. I had 11,000 GE this morning and scratched it. Then it rallied half a point. I've done this on PG a few times since it went hybrid too.

    Stock "halts"

If you are so inclined, you can place a limit on open or market on open order on listed stocks, just like you can before they open at 9:30. The specialist will publish an indication as well if it's going to re-open with a significant change in price.

    Any Info on Tuco Trading

I don't want to appear to be pimping them, but yes I do trade with the firm and can answer your questions by pm. I don't know anything about the Chicago office though. Corey

    Swift Trade secret to success?

Where's he going to move to? Swift is paying what the market will bear. If a competing firm set up in the same city offering 30% payout, Swift would match them pretty quick. All Peter Beck has to do is give a guy a chance to make more than the average wage and they'll keep showing up.

How much % a day is possible.

You're not getting it. My comment earlier in this thread was using the example of a prop stock trader with a moderate amount of capital who plays a tight game and consistently makes >100% per year on his capital. By consistent I mean making money almost every month for years on end. A bad...

How much % a day is possible.

I would say there are lots of prop traders who consistently make >100% per year on their account equity. And don't say "if you double your money every year you'll own the world in x years". I'm talking about a scenario where a guy has $25,000 or $50,000 in his account, makes 10 grand a...

Trader P/L 2006 Questions and Discussion

I don' t know anyone advertising rates like that. But if you are banging out 1-5 million shares per day, you can certainly negotiate with some leverage. There's a good chance it'll involve a profit split though because the firm would make little to nothing off your trading. So you need a...

    IB Odd lots

Yes Steve, it was a good scam. Breaking news on a stock, the specialist freezes the book 1x1 and ecn's are crossing it up 50 cents. You could hit the specialist's 'frozen' 1 lot offer for 99 shares as fast as you could hit the key and immediately get out on the ecns. The odd lot trades were...

Jobs where you can sit around doing nothing & trade.

I had lots of free time to trade at my old job as a firefighter/paramedic. However people having heart attacks and fires while I was in a position was a real hassle.

    IB Odd lots

FYI an odd lot is for a share size <100. Sizes like 450, 120, etc are mixed lots. I use them extensively at IB and other brokers and there is no problem with them (none I've had yet anyway, including today). Odd lot orders are treated differently on the nyse and that's why they regulate...

Trader P/L 2006 Questions and Discussion

Ticket charges. The only way to make money trading that style is to pay a low flat rate per trade and do huge size. How does a 100,000 share order for $1 sound to ya?
