Why would a prop firm steal your deposit?

If balance sheets aren't audited by a well known third party accounting firm, they are useless. Anyone can pump out any numbers they want in-house and who's to say any different?

Don and Mav, Part Deux! (Live Chat)

Signing up for paltalk for the last chat was a nightmare. popups, spam email and their crap software hiding on my system and running in the background and I couldnt turn it off. Hotcomm is a lot better imo.

    Basket Orders

A basket batches and sends multiple orders at once. You can use it for things like scalping an entire sector at once, index arbitrage or just firing off 100's of orders with one click.

Get around Potential Pattern Day Trade at IB?

Sorry, had a blonde moment on my earlier post. I was refering to prop firms that will let you trade all you want with less than $25,000. Many don't require licensing and some allow overnight positions. I trade at a firm like this, but they also offer SIPC insured retail accounts, but with...

Get around Potential Pattern Day Trade at IB?

There are firms out there that will let you daytrade with less than $25,000 you know. Some are even sipc insured, will allow overnights and have rates competitive with IB. This PDT rule shackles so many people, but there are alternatives.

When you get back to even - quit?

The outcome of every trade is random. If you have a positive expectancy system, over time you will come out ahead with proper money management rules. So if every trade has a positive expectancy, why would you not take every trade setup? The market does not react differently based on your p/l...

    Esignal charts freezing

This is happening more and more frequently. On an advanced chart I type in a symbol, usually 1 minute bars. It works ok for a few minutes then just stops updating, frozen at a certain time. If I change the time interval, it is correct again, but then freezes. The only way to get it to show...

Very costly error today on my part. You miss one little step when firing off a few hundred orders and boom, $8,000 is gone in a flash. Finished -$6193 net on 302,000 shrs

    The Opening Orders Thread

I pull ex-date and dividend amount into my spreadsheet with dde from esignal. I use 3 or 4 different websites to check for news, upgrades, etc. Briefing's platimum level service is pretty good for only $20/month. Redi Plus is an order entry platform.

    Am I Getting Ripped Off?

You are paying for a security blanket. In fact based on your numbers and what you'd pay at most places, your security blanket is probably costing you about $25,000 a month. No wonder they take care of you. As long as you've got enough cash to sustain your drawdowns, it silly to stay with...

    Publicly Known Strategies

What most people are selling are entry signals or a system that generates them. This is the sizzle that eveyone wants and that newbies think is the key to success. However experienced traders will tell you that the entry is one of the least important parts of a comprehensive trading...

    Trader P/L 2007

-$3791 net on 98,000 shares, almost all on one disastrous erroneous trade. Somehow my system sent a short order for LEA and I was two points under water before I caught it. My blotter marked an overnight incorrectly so it's off a bit.

    Trader P/L 2007

No blotter today, but got destroyed in two stocks and finished down about 12 grand. Some strong trends out there, no fun if you trade mean reversion. Good thing I started the month with a good cusion, I'm burning through it pretty fast this week.

    Trader P/L 2007

-$4271 net on 237,000 shrs. Problems exacerbated by a major system upgrade that inevitably will always mess something up. Short 5,000 STJ this morning didn't help either.

    Software Question

Software-wise, that's pretty standard stuff. However the rate you pay, buying power, etc is provided by your broker/firm, and has nothing to do with the software. For $1/1000 you'll need to be doing probably 1 million shares a day and have some good connections. Many firms pay more than that...
