Lost 5000 bucks on a FAT Finger mistake

You trade long enough, you'll make every error in the book. It's just the law of averages. You think you can execute 10, 50 or 100,000 trades over the years and not make mistakes? I could probably retire on all the money lost to mistakes over the last 5 years. It's part of the business...

    Trader P/L 2007

What an end to the month! My p/l exploded with the volatility with some big swings along the way. More size, more positions, more range. Up $56k the last three days, +22 today. +94 for the month. Booyah! Keep it comin'!

    The Opening Orders Thread

You've got to do some searching on this site. This thread is about the 6th iteration and has been going on since the fall of 2001. The strategy and it's subtleties have been explained numerous times. This was my second best week of the year for openings, up about 10k.

Trader Success: Supply & Demand / Buying at the "Right" Price

It's ALL about the exit. Snakeoil salesmen will sell you the "secret rules of when to buy" but not tell you anything about when to sell. When to sell addresses things like risk, money management, bet size, etc which are the essential guts of a good system. The entry ranks much lower in...

    Trader P/L 2007

Haven't been around ET much lately, summer trading, quitting early most days. June was great, made some tweaks to the system that paid off. The IB retail acct was up about 25k for a +97 month, the best of the year. 320 ytd <img...

I've never traded on Redi, so can't help you there. I do have an opening orders system on IB, but it is a seperate app written for IB's api and does not run on vba through excel. If you are trading manually and constrained by space, I'd just go off your positions and what they're doing. Have...

    Canadian Traders

My accounts are all in USD. I don't actively hedge, just convert as I pull money out. At times like this, I wish I was hedged, but over the last couple years, it has been up and down in the upper .80's and not been that big a deal. The thing is, if I hedged all my exposure I'm basically...

    The Opening Orders Thread

That TXN headline hit with about two minutes to go to the bell, I canceled all my orders in time. You have to watch constantly, even after you've sent your orders. Now, the OMX news didn't show up anywhere until a few minutes AFTER the open, except of course to some privileged few. That one...

    Trader P/L 2007

Absolutely, positively true. You really become a good trader when your focus is on trading well, not watching the dollars go up and down. Trade with the goal of only executing properly and let the money take care of itself. Easier said than done though. No blotter today, I quit mid-day...

    The Opening Orders Thread

The strategy you are using here only gets you in with a small edge. Getting out is completely based on your ability to trade and manage risk. Many many people try opening orders then realize that it's no magic bullet. YOU STILL HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO TRADE!

I never skew my envelopes. My buy and sell levels are the same irregardless of how much the market is gapping. To me skewing your envelopes is akin to making a bet on what's going to happen after the open. I try to remove as much guesswork as I can and be ambivalent as to direction.
