    95% of traders fail???

would be Tony Plummer (a graduate of LSE, a director of Hambros Bank Ltd in London, where he is responsible for bond and currency trading), the author of The Psychology of Technical Analysis (A completely revised edition of Forecasting Financial Markets).

    95% of traders fail???

Thanks Bbmat for the input. And here are my speculative views (worth total up to 20 cents): 1. TA (according to whatever definitions) would not be the only analysis which is based on past information. Basically all types of quantitative analysis (using maths, stats, combination, etc.)...

    95% of traders fail???

From one of the reviewers: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1557385335/ref=ed_oe_h/104-6209799-4673557?v=glance&s=books&st=* Q Gallacher is neither totally wrong nor totally right in his methodical destruction of technical analysis. What he overlooks is that...

    95% of traders fail???

It would be possible that for many traders (from a range of different backgrounds), the probability of becoming a hedge fund manager (or a very profitable private trader) would be many times higher than becoming a top-notch trader in any I-Banks on the Street, I would think.

    95% of traders fail???

Due to so many different factors, how many would become top-notch traders in those I-Banks on the Street? Probably much lesser than 5%!

    95% of traders fail???

Just curious: Why some traders would suggest that an edge (in terms of such as siding, timing, etc.) is not so important (comparing to other factors), if not critical, to long term success (good profits)?!

    95% of traders fail???

:D Potentially, some other (probably) valid statements could inlcude such as: - Not only about 5% traders could make big profits, but also another 90% traders are in the process approaching to make big profits, except only the remaining 5% roughly (without proper knowledge) would make big...

    95% of traders fail???

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=387441 Another 20 cents: Whatever % mentioned could be merely our guess. Before anyone produces a statistical/survey report (which may or maybe be available in the trading field due to various reasons), perhaps finding (or picking by...

    95% of traders fail???

20 cents, I would think: Probably Harry's using Arcsine distribution (maybe Harry should re-post the Arcsine curve here again for our reference) to depict the distribution of all-traders' performance/wealth would be about right, just this time :D , and insightful as well :). PS...
