what brand HP ? my post was not asking what to buy but how reliable and solid the current name brand PC notebooks are in terms of customer service and runtime vs downtime since they all seem to be offering $400-1000 laptops now with 14-15 1/2 inch screens running windows XP

anyone care to comment on how the media surveys or their own experiences have been with DELL vs HP vs Toshiba on laptops priced $500 - $750 ? at these prices its not the money but the battery power and reliability I care about I am seeing specials now for similar 15-16 inch monitor...

a newbie should not be trading copper futures

if you have the right method , edge , discipline etc you can start with as little as 2-5K and make a nice living ... of course you need a little help from the trading volatility gods ... :p

I do not see the big deal ... I can already trade futures fx or split the NBBO in spot fx and deal with some of the biggest FX interbanks as a retail customer with InteractiveBrokers :p

of course there are prop futures firms ... in nyc and chicago do a search on ET for some discussion on this

I think he is talking about coverting from one currency to another ( IDEAL ) and not trading for pips ( IDEALPRO )

hmmm .. if you went long @ 662 why did you not have a stop in place then or take partial profits on the highs yesterday afternoon or early this am when the prices were holding above 670 -675 ? anyway ... if this was a paper trade or just commentary on the market ... my apologies :)

always be prepared to hedge if stubborn and not willing to take a loss ... :)

I once used a $2500 tax refund check to fund my futures account ... ( no I did not blow up this account ) :p

I just read two short articles one from trading markets site said the market will be higher in a week the other from marketwatch site said the market will be lower in 3 weeks neither one said anything about monday :p

in order to succeed as a trader one must be willing to take a loss and or hedge somehow to reduce exposure adding on to a loser usually does not work unless the odds are really in your favor and you have a crystal ball I sometimes break the rules myself ... :eek:

nice post cris ... I have been told by others to save as much as I can this yr because I am not consistent in my career as a trader ... one yr can be low 6 figures another yr can be a total wash for me looking back it is easy to say ... I should have bought the internets in the...

these polls are a tad silly a trader can be having his best yr ever and have made 1000 % or more in his acct YTD but if it was a small acct. the world will not notice however if a HF gent makes 20 % on 100M in YTD performance he is considered a genius
