its seems to me that margin and commission per contract are higher for COMEX products ( GC + SI ) however they have been doing the majority of volume for quite some time and there is something to be said for "liquidity"

a london based outfit called bullionvault might have tighter spreads for what you want to do in gold

don't look now ... but silver is back over $17.00 basis march 08 futures :cool:

I usually post in the other P+L journal as although I do mostly futures I do arb in equities or attempt to do so from time to time this week about 2 1/2 - 3 % profits in my acct trading mostly metals :cool:

I assume that with platinum hitting fresh all time highs today ( currently over $1800 USD ) that eventually gold will be the benefit of this to the upside

good luck to you young man you are on the right track if you can keep making profits weekly and avoid losing weeks or bad drawdowns during those weeks you are on the road to being a trader I hope I am not jinxing myself but looking back at this month I did not have any drawdowns...

ha ... you never know ... what the metals gods will do ! nothing suprises me anymore but silver is in a better price level compared to gold than say at the beg. of last week so if gold rebounds back above 910 and heads to 915 and 920 next week than the chances are we shall see...

well ... after finally breaking through $17.00 today silver dropped back below that round number a. end of week controlled profit taking in both silver and gold ( it seemed at first to me to be totally nuts in mid morning but the sellers controlling the order flow today did it in...

the metals were ballistic today lucky not to lose my profits for the week might dip my toes into the water again but am flat for now for the week ... plus 3 %
