Valid points. Thanks for the quick reply.

If you wouldn't mind, I'd be interested in hearing them. Besides the fact it's near a 14-yr high (er in upsidedownland), what's behind your position?

Doubtful; everyone else who has posted on this thread seems to be long at around the same place as you. In any case, your views aren't surprising at all since you also seem to think euro is on it's way to parity. A drop in gold and oil would likely accompany that, if that happens to be the...

    Getting Started in Forex

Instead of focusing on systems developed by others, might I suggest just watching the markets themselves and getting a handle on what moves prices in as "unfiltered" a manner as possible -- meaning, skipping through all the voodoo that most traders use as a crutch/substitute for true information...

    Is this a double top?

If you think Governor Fukui will declare an official end to quantitative easing, bet on the double top holding. If say the Chinese real estate market suddenly collapses, bet on a channel continuation. An immediate yuan float would probably produce a whipsaw breakdown-breakout.

Need some objective rules to stop-gain

When you mentally high-five yourself on an open position, exit half and trail the rest. It's more reliable than it sounds.

what screen size is best for daytrading?

You must admit the hardware questions probably rate as getting the most reliable answers out of any other topic in this forum. Compare that with asking "what does backtesting have to do with making money in the future?" around these parts . . . :D

    Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!!

The achilles heel to discretionary trading is letting one's successes and/or failures cloud one's judgement. You're gonna need to develop the ability to read your own biases and emotions as well any market "indicator" before putting on the next trade, and to slow yourself down when it starts to...

Yeah my mistake. I'd still go for the 19's though :)

what screen size is best for daytrading?

I'm not sure this is quite true when it comes purely to charts. Charts don't have much detail that would require high resolution. If I'm not mistaken, if you took a 19" screen and a 17" screen and made a chart exactly 3x4 inches on both, they would look virtually identical (aside from...

A little hope for new Forex traders

Wow, this is the equivalent of saying if I could use all my money to buy 6397 shares of yahoo on the next trade compared to someone else who only buys 6300, I would make more money -- therefore, the extra 97 shares is key to my exponential gains. Gotcha. Trust me, by the time anyone gets to...

A little hope for new Forex traders

ps -- this isn't the treasury markets we're talking about here; it's hard enough at times to get a decent execution on any part of one's position, much less count on being able to things granularly.

A little hope for new Forex traders

This was the assumption to which my reply was directed. There is no evidence that smaller lots contributes to a more "feasible" percentage goal in FX versus stocks -- if it's any easier in FX, it's due to pure leverage, plain and simple. But maybe I don't understand the concept of trading "1...

Why do you need to trade is such small lot sizes, and how does the ability translate into increased profitability? I don't see any profitable stock traders touting 10-share lots, do you? Ever heard of "timing"? :)
