    IBM Release Tomorrow

They are reporting early so their Jan puts can still save their hides when they warn like SAP :)

But the edge is for the life??

What do you think Richard Dennis, Julian Robertson, even Jesse Livermore might say?

    I'm 75% short, $100K

    ES today

Talk about top-picking -- the euro drops a penny and your calling a bottom in the dollar? Hypocrite! :)

    Coffee . . .

I would guess he means weaker dollar = higher oil prices = higher heating oil = higher prices of substitutes (nat gas). No clue how much NG is imported, that would make a difference as well. But I'd agree that it's 90% supply + weather rather than fx.

    Greenspan's speech

The Bank of Japan isn't supplying anything except Yen; they are buyers of debt only because they need a place to park the dollars they hold from intervention. Doesn't this skew the actual price and amount of US debt that the international markets could "naturally" take?

    Greenspan's speech

He notes that the US is able to fund a larger deficit due to international market flexibility, yet isn't it weird that the largest buyers of our debt are the 2 biggest nations with "dirty" floats/absolute dollar pegs (Japan and China)?

    Greenspan Boosts Dollar???

There has been NEGATIVE correlation between dollar and equities for a long time now. It shouldn't surprise people to see equities falling along with euro (dollar strength). Could be just a temporary unwinding of some hedge fund bets (long stock, long euro).

    I'm 75% short, $100K

Can you picture the Dollar rising just as stocks crack? It could happen, lots of funds long both equities and euros.

    I'm 75% short, $100K

I know that if lots of people on this board are calling tops, it may be pretty bullish, especially if these posts are left alone; however, notice the number of people coming out of the woodwork to refute the top-callers -- I'd say it's about 3 "you shorts are going to get killed" for every...

    Today's BONDS!

That's the amazing thing. With a backdrop of soaring commodity prices and supposed prospects for economic "growth", bonds should be plummeting instead of breaking out. And yet here we are near a multi-month low on 10-yr yields, with the majority of market players leaning the wrong way (read...

    Gold & Silver

Careful about technical formations like gaps and islands in regards to fx, it's a 24-hour market and there are barely any true gaps occurring except perhaps for post G-7 meetings where they've discussed joint intervention over Sunday brunch. Also the cme market closes at one of the slowest...
