Is 56 winners out of 64 total positions a good trading record?

Your trades aren't consecutive, they have many overlaps. So the math is to you.

    Globex Fx

Are there trade breaks for so called "fat finger" mistakes in globex currency contracts? Is there a certain amount the futures can trade away from cash fx?

Is 56 winners out of 64 total positions a good trading record?

What's better mr market: 1mil position in QQQ gaining 15% OR 90 10K positions in the NDX components, each of which are 15% winners, and 10 other positions losing 25%? Get the point? Good.

    PD /copper

If you're gonna short PD, I guess it's a good day to enter, copper popping higher and all. But beware, these commodities can have huge runaway price moves, better to be short PD than copper itself but it still can be dangerous call. HG isn't moving so much on sentiment than on actual drawdowns...

CFC was my 52nd consecutive profitable trade of 15% or better...

Haven't we gone thru this before? These trades aren't consecutive, they're concurrent, closing the trades on separate days is not the same as compounding 15% 52 times. Good marketing though! :)

    Copper . . .

oops, that post should have gone to the silver thread. umm go HG go! :) Platinum also flying today. Waggie, you trade HG contracts directly? Or just through equities? Anyone trade PL at all?

    Copper . . .

This "conspiracy" of paper shorts supressing the price of silver just doesn't cut it for me, obviously there are stockpiles of silver elsewhere besides COMEX (yearly use of silver is near 800 million ozs right? Doesn't all go through COMEX). Most of those short paper silver are just bullion...

How To Turn $100,000 Into $48 Million

Somehow, "85% accuracy in finding tops and bottoms" and selling covered calls to take advantage of that just doesn't gel. Picking tops and bottoms is a low percentage play where you take many small losses until you finally hit the right turn and win big -- the opposite of covered call writing...

How To Turn $100,000 Into $48 Million

If you're effectively selling naked puts, your MAX upside might be 8%, but your downside could be quite a lot larger than that -- I think that's what you are missing. It's the call that is "covered", not the actual stock, which could always gap down huge any given day, so those 3 losing months...

    Pit only commodities

Yeah I was looking at soybeans, but not sure if IB allows trading in it; I see quotes on TWS but orders don't go through -- looks like decent volume/spreads even overnight. Anyone trade ZS at all?

    Pit only commodities

For those contracts without an electronic trading venue (copper, coffee, sugar etc), how are real-time quotes and executions for a brokerage such as lind-waldock nowadays? Are real-time streaming bids/asks given? How much slippage should be expected from electronic order entry --> manual pit...

Economic numbers in order of importance

http://biz.yahoo.com/c/e.html Might be a good place to get started. Theres a little blurb on each report and its relative impact on the market, would caution that "impact" is always changing depending on what the markets are keying on.

    IB Data ...

Is the ECBOT disappearing an IB issue or something that originates with the exchange itself? Happened again today after CC numbers.

    Globex versus Pit

I don't see why anyone needs go through the pit unless one was scalping/arbing discrepancies -- globex futures seems as tight a market as us individuals will get.

    Short

Why do you assume people who can catch a top will only stay in for 30 cents, while those who wait until after the top is in will take 2 points? One sells at 100, another sells at 98, it retraces back to 99 before going down to 95 -- you're telling me the guy who sold at 98 is going to make...

    Short

One guy thinks this is top -- woopdeedoo. You disagree? Go long and be happy in knowing that the money you make is coming out of his account and into yours. But let's stop trying to convince the world that your way to trade is the only way; "don't short new highs cuz it's scary when...
