Bernanke To Extend Short Term Loans Made To Financial Institutions..

except that the loans can continue to be rolled over. sounds like perm financing to me. and they will stay in effect until they are no longer needed; if that means beyond next year, then that's what will happen. to believe anything else is delusional because if they aren't willing to stop them...

    Profit model correlation

I am in the process of teaching myself RM as well. I'll play around with your files so we are working with the same data. Won't be until after the weekend as I'll be out of town, but should be a good learning experience.

    Profit model correlation

dt, not an expert here, but without even using Jerry's suggestion of using technical indicators as attributes, maybe normalizing the #s by taking the % change would lead to a more predictive model? just a suggestion to see what that model would do vs the model you first built and how much...

If someone paid too much for their house, I don't pity them.

All this really is is that the fed gov't is going to take over sub-prime lending so that you and I are directly on-the-line instead of the banks (that would be bailed out anyway). Didn't we just get done with the great push the subprime/no down payment experiment?

Monte Carlo / Simulation - basic question

I am relatively sure there is an easy answer to this, but, after searching, I don't know what it is. within excel I want to simulate wins and losses separately based on the avg and std dev of both. for example: avg win: $300 std dev of wins: $200 avg loss: $200 std dev of losses...

    Soros Comment

Exactly. Not to mention the reflexive action of increased values of comps (resulting from increased prices that were driven by cheap money, tax changes, etc.) for other homes being purchased. It's really all one big reflexive episode.

Report: US/Pentagon Preparing Strike on Iran

Yes! Let's save some money and let Iran get nukes. How about we just sell them a few and MAKE some money instead?!? Great plan!

    WTG Praetorian!

Steve, I happen to have lawyers in my family as well, and I have found that they will always advise a client to keep their mouth shut if given a choice. So, I can buy that Praetorian is following their advice and probably the less said the better for him.
