You Name It... The Models Time It..

Here's my day trading logic: And here's my explanation to the ever-confused TJ of why people were buying: No trades called live or hypothetical

I happened to look at NQ when I posted and was pointing out to TJ that a position taken at 3pm was profitable later in the evening, because TJ's post made it sound like it was dropping, which at that time it wasn't.

I'm sure you did. Again, because you seem so certain that I called a trade: TJ asked why people were buying at that time and I gave TJ a technical explanation. I wasn't arguing with his personal short position, nor was I trading the QQQ's or the NQ's. The dozen or so people on ET who...

A pullback to the 94/95 area as R would set up a measured move to the mid 70's range low, but shorts would definitely be nervous above that.

You Name It... The Models Time It..

I know you're not that clueless; you're just mean-spirited. TJ was asking why people were buying at 3pm yesterday and I explained that a symmetrical triangle was breaking out at that time. I also made it clear that a day trader would be flat at the end of the day. And I also pointed out after...

    CL Redux

You've got the right idea! Work on your entries, you're chasing a bit and CL's not forgiving in that regard if you're a scalper.

If the channel has another upside push in it, the UTL is well above 98.00 right now

For optimal R:R entries in a strong trending move, I haven't found anything better than the 1-min pullback method. Beats watching the whole thing run without you  Also, many day traders use these small pb's to add to their winners instead of in-and-out scalping.

My method is for intraday scalping, by the way; I wouldn't be looking to take a swing short position right here in the middle of a potential range.

    CL Redux

I don't recall ever seeing a draw like this on EIA. Knowing CL, price will totally retrace the move up and make new lows on the bullish news :p

Yes, put up a 1-min chart (with a 1-min 20EMA if you like EMAs). Watch how price tends to pull back to the 1-min 20EMA and then turn back in the direction of the trend and test/break the previous new low. Find a way of entering that suits your R:R parameters :) ADD: Once a key level is...

You Name It... The Models Time It..

Why would day traders buy around 3pm? Because at that point in time the price action indicated price was far more likely to revisit the previous highs than to test the low. I have no idea how to find out who took the other side of their trades. I'm pretty sure that the majority of traders...

You Name It... The Models Time It..

Day traders are flat into the close today; the triangle breakout had no fuel to break the intraday range. Swing traders wouldn't be initiating a new long today; they'd be long from one of the many pullbacks on the daily or weekly charts and if swinging longer term they'd remain long, looking...

QQQ intraday at 3pm = long signal (symmetrical triangle breakout) QQQ in every time window (from intraday through 5-years) = long trade at 3pm today What is "it" and why did "it" think QQQ a short at that time?

A psychologist once told me that if you want to really cement something in your brain write it out by hand, don't type it in a word processor. I have copies of Bighog's hand-annotated charts showing me really simple price action setups in ES a few years ago, the stuff you see in old trading...

    CL Redux

CL is really solid for playing ranges that way. Every now and then I take those trades, but I still use a larger initial stop because the tiny stops seem so impossible.
