    The CL/NQ experiment

It has nothing to do with trading at all. Keep in mind that CL's leverage and volatility combined with the seemingly "safe" construct of the 1-min chart is what my friend calls the Devil's Chocolate. Tread carefully. All the best to you! NoD

    The CL/NQ experiment

IMHO, you're over thinking everything and searching for a magic solution. I once recommended a book (nothing to do with trading) to all my friends based on my absolutely stunning personal experience that came about by my doing the things the book recommended. Eight of my friends read the...

    The CL/NQ experiment

OK, I guess I'm confused about how the trades are shown on the chart. It looked to me like the first trade was quickly terminated for a loss and the second trade took a while to exit for a profit.

    The CL/NQ experiment

Why was the first exit OK? Why did you give the second trade (entered at a worst price than the first) so much more wiggle room? Basically, I'm wondering how the rules of your plan explain the tight stop on the first trade and the wide stop on the 2nd trade.

    The CL/NQ experiment

12-Step Programs are not affiliated with any religion. A "Higher Power" (which many call "God" for ease of use) can be anything at all that you find more powerful than yourself. Clearly, the market qualifies as such. The best trading psych books are already written - Mark Douglas The best...

    The CL/NQ experiment

Knowing why won't change your behavior. That's why there are constantly new self help books. People read them expecting change to magically happen by osmosis. They generally do the exercises in their head or think about how great it all sounds. They rarely do the hard work necessary to replace...

FOMC minutes coming here...can get slippery.

    The CL/NQ experiment

Your subconscious mind hasn't been programmed to function comfortably in a trading environment, which requires one to embrace uncertainty with every trade because the positive outcome of each series of N trades is rewarding. In other words, as traders we must constantly endure short term...

    CL Redux

LMAO, I was just having that very thought. I think there are way too many eyes on the 93.00 zone. We need a really good breakout downside to wash out all the "key support level" speculators first :D (BTW, that's not my rule. I believe it's a CFTC rule.)

I did say that, and see...it's true!

Definitely around the inventory report. I've seen price just plain gap 50 ticks on that report.

    The CL/NQ experiment

This is a serious problem which prevents you from thinking in terms of probabilities. In trading, these actions are wrong: Hesitating, then chasing an entry Positioning in advance of a valid signal in an effort to get a better price Moving stops around to micro-manage a trade (or...

Question: Trading Timeframe or Swing H/L's

Very true. What's most important to me is that if I can't get in at the exact tick I want (price doesn't quite get to my limit order, for example), I'll get in somewhere as long as the risk:reward ratio still makes sense. It makes no sense to place a stop loss in the path of acceptable adverse...

    The CL/NQ experiment

A professional psychologist once told me this same thing about journaling and I've kept my trading journal in front of me with pen and notepad ever since.

Question: Trading Timeframe or Swing H/L's

cmb posted a tick chart recently on another thread showing the trade entries that made sense to him and interestingly I'd taken every one of them based on my 5-min/1-min time charts, leading me to believe that price action is price action no matter how you slice it.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

We have no idea what your RR's are because you post in hindsight and we don't know the price at which you'd terminate the trade for a loss. Please direct us to the trades I called in hindsight on the day I linked you to (where I stated in advance my stop loss on all trades as well as the key...

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

I've posted real-time calls and real-time trades with real R:R's. Why aren't the backers flocking to me? :D

    The CL/NQ experiment

Before anything else, one needs a blueprint. I call this blueprint a trading plan, or business plan, if you will. This ensures that you end up building up what your thorough analysis indicates you should. I call the realization of the blueprint "profit" Now, comes the hard part...

    The CL/NQ experiment

The "Law of Attraction" claims that you can attract what you desire by your thoughts, beliefs, or feelings. I've never seen any scientific proof of this and so I don't believe in this "law". However, your thoughts, beliefs, and feelings have a powerful influence on your actions, your...
