Yes. First you need to download the video's .FLV (Flash Video) file from Youtube, which can be accomplished with the help of a site like Javimoya. Unfortunately, it is not working for me right now, but perhaps it will for you. Next, convert the .FLV file to a .MP4 file suitable for an...

    need a trading engine

No worries, I'm neither inflamed nor offended. I was a bit surprised at $2000/day, but as you say, perhaps I just don't have a good handle on what the market will bear. My ~$300/day is not for trading-related work.

Agreed. Pay for things you can't do and can't learn to do yourself.

    need a trading engine

Ideally, though common sense tells me that it is folly to blindly follow this aphorism. I should explain. I have steady work now, but I make about 1/7 of your daily rate every day. If someone decided to hire you, for every day that you work, it will take me seven to catch up. Does this mean the...

That's a lot of beer. Let's just say I drink substantially less.

Always good to hear some VNV Nation, RCG's. :) Apologies if these have already been posted. They are both, in my opinion, rather epic: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qIuX-8g5hMs&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param...

Marketcetera can do what you want. I'm always looking for beer money.

hey HFT scum, yeah, you. Watch this

stock777, I've been following this thread for a while. Let me be very clear: you look like a jackass. I'm surprised that the other folks in the thread have tolerated you so long -- almost every time they post a detailed response addressing your claims, you come back with a sophomoric...

    Kudos to MMs

On July 14 S&P replaced MIL with ACE in the index. Do things like this affect NFV's value, even temporarily, or calculation at all?

S&P 500 Constituents - GICS Sector, Industry Group, and Industry Classification

Following up on my previous post, I've written some code that uses the Bloomberg numbers (and falls back on Yahoo's) to calculate the float-adjusted weightings. The results are here: http://tx-0.org/sp500/

S&P 500 Constituents - GICS Sector, Industry Group, and Industry Classification

Thanks for the Yahoo tip. A little more poking around led me to Bloomberg's site, which has the float numbers in greater precision, as well as info for some stocks that Yahoo lacks, such as BRK/B. I've got some Ruby+Nokogiri code to pull float information (could be used to pull any field...

I see what you did there. :D

Someone just bought 1,500 Goldman Sachs Jan. 11, 2.50 puts.

Well, no, in all fairness, $4500 of puts @ 50 still cost $4500. :)

From my perspective, this is someone with a hunch, gambling his yearly bonus. The cost here is $4500 + commissions.

S&P 500 Constituents - GICS Sector, Industry Group, and Industry Classification

I have shares outstanding for each constituent, and some code that will calculate an index value in real time, but no access to public float information. Is this hard to come by, or am I looking in the wrong places? Have also done some work using Eureqa (http://ccsl.mae.cornell.edu/eureqa) to...

I agree. I've been paper trading futures using NFV for the past couple of months, to great success. I've come up with a bit of an expansion on nitro's rules, to use NFV to trade SPY options, and am hoping that NFV sticks around a while longer, as I would like to give this a try with real money.

If you get backing, do you think you will be able to continue posting NFV?
