    ECBOT at OpenECry

I just pulled up quotes for bonds at OEC and I don't get anything. Same for ECBOT grains. Is anyone else able to get this data in OEC Trader? I'm guessing this is because they moved to GLOBEX, but then again who knows with OEC, lately their support is going the way of IB (emails are ignored...

Pit fills ... anyone else still waiting?

I'm trading a system based on daily data (from the pit) using stops. I first tried simulating pits using good after time (with expiration) orders but I found I was getting fills at prices the pits never touched, and which were often the low/high of the day (low when I'm shorting, high when I'm...

Pit fills ... anyone else still waiting?

I'm still waiting on a pit fill from what's now nearly 2 hours ago on ICE cotton. The broker says they're backup up (no sh*t). Is this normal???? I've used the pits before and encountered late fills (maybe 30 minutes) but two hours is ridiculous....

help me understand limit up? emergency

Consider using an openecry account to trade, they offer futures options and futures (even pit contracts) from a single account. Tradestation can also be configured to autotrade at OEC instead of at Tradestation's brokerage. But then you still need your 10 round trip trades per month or they...

help me understand limit up? emergency

Did you make the trade in an electronic tradestation account or a pit trading account? If it's an electronic account you're screwed, you can't trade futures options in that account. If it's a pit account call them and see if they can do anything.

    crude oil spike

This type of order imbalance occurs from time to time on GLOBEX. Usually it's with less liquid contracts, but QM can be illiquid at times. If I remember correctly it has to do with the algorithm GLOBEX uses, and it will keep running up (or down) the price until it resets after a few seconds...

    Interactive Brokers margin requirements

There was also a bulletin about this in TWS. How'd you miss that?

    OptionsXpress alternatives?

I'd recommend IB, sure everyone loves to complain about them, but nobody offers what they offer and especially not for the price. They do have issues, but so does every other broker. I'd also recommend openecry for futures. They offer a large number of futures (almost as many as IB) and...

another reason IB is the pits

Richard King helps tons of users, all for free, and also moderates the Yahoo Groups TWS API user group. He never claims IB is perfect, and I'd guess all IB customers have been bit by one of their bugs (or the many many undocumented enhancements). I've received hundreds of messages from him as...

    IB TWS at vpsland

I canceled my VPS at vpsland today. They tried to say they'd fix my problem, then after reviewing the tickets they decided to cancel my account. I am in shock of their total incompetence and stupidity. Opening a port should not be brain surgery, either it's open or it's not, there's no in...

    IB TWS at vpsland

I will be closing my account tonight. As you found, their support is terrible. I don't expect a superfast response, but I found their responses were pretty quick, just stupid. The first ticket ended with the moron telling me to reconfigure my app (after I had already explained in the ticket...

    IB TWS at vpsland

If they can get port 4000 open for TWS I'll be happy. Some guy in support has been telling me for days that it's open, but a simple port query makes it clear it's not open. For $30 a month I'm getting 1 GB of RAM and a share of an 8 CPU machine, so I'm willing to deal with some crappy...

    IB TWS at vpsland

Dunno, it depends how fast your connection needs to be. To use TWS from IB it will probably work, just be very slow. VPSLand appears to have some real winners in their technical support department. The guy told me to reconfigure TWS so it will connect to IB despite my providing him with...

    IB TWS at vpsland

Yes, you need a UPS. I also have a a backup ISP (was DSL, now it's FIOS).

    IB TWS at vpsland

I suppose anything is possible, but I'm less worried about VPS customers trying to hack me than the 16 year old pimply faced teenager down the street sharing my cable modem subnet. Just the same I won't allow TWS API connections from anywhere but localhost.....

    IB TWS at vpsland

Not that I'm aware of .... and I'm able to connect from either of my home ISPs plus from behind a firewall at my work. I just cancelled my 1and1 vps as vpsland is cheaper and I get more RAM. However, not being able to connect is a definite shopstopper. I can't even make a socket connection...

    IB TWS at vpsland

Is anyone using TWS on a VPS (virtual private server) at VPSland? I got my VPS running but TWS is unable to login to IB (it can login fine from my home PC so it appears to be a connectivity issue). I asked their support and they verified port 4000 is open, is there anything else I need to do...

    Problems with IB TWS

No, I doubt we ever will. We'll here something vague about a hardware failure, and a backup hardware failure, but that's it. Isn't this the reason they make clustered servers?
