It must be hard being rich these days

Yes, I often sob quietly to myself while sipping Krug in the stateroom of my yacht, as it perambulates the azure seas of the Caribbean :)...

Bond Trader 2009 - War Stories for 18 March 2009

I think the person in charge of the Fed communications should be shot. Honestly, how can an organization like the Fed, with, basically, the entire world hanging on their every word, screw this up so badly. It boggles the mind!

Get The Hell Out Part V

While agreeing with you in principle, BLSH, you have to be honest. FedEx also said `WE PROBABLY HAVE HIT THE BOTTOM'.

TZ, I won't argue with you, because there's really no point. This is, therefore, my last post in response to you. My view now is that you're not familiar enough with the nature and the workings of scientific method and peer review. NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING, is ever SURELY ESTABLISHED in...

How will you play dollar crash?

I didn't sell EURUSD, it's not the time to do that yet, but that time will come soon, methinks. Did sell some EURGBP for a play on EUR falling into the QE line. Up on it so far. Another interesting one to play is SEK, with the Riksbank being the next to the party.

    Fed buying treasuries.... question

The BOE started gilt purchases as part of the APF LAST WEEK. Today was NOT the first time they have done it. Please do not post things that are plain WRONG. Moreover, the bid/cover is not very informative due to the mechanics of the auction process. People put in silly offers in hopes of...

How will you play dollar crash?

The Europeans are looking more and more like the odd ones out. I think shorting EUR is not bad risk/reward here, as I don't expect them to be able to hold out much longer.

    Fed is buying treasuries

TALF hasn't actually started yet, so it can't be working yet. Looks like it's gonna be a bit more difficult than it seemed also.

When is Bazooka Ben gonna buy stocks?

Well, why not stocks? The Fed's forerunner in the glorious world of QE, the BoJ, is already doing it.

How will you play dollar crash?

The irony is that, unless something drastic happens, we're doomed to repeat the very same errors that have brought us here. The screwed up incentives, the pro-cyclical policies, all this is continuing and even getting stronger, because it's purportedly done to ensure short-term survival. But...

    Fed buying treasuries.... question

Well, China would love it, if it weren't for the fact that they have to sell their agency paper and replace it with USTs. The Fed loves the part where China sells them higher yield vs buying lower yield, with it all being the same govt paper... Everyone wins!

Did anyone catch the gold swing?

That was not a gold swing. That was a USD swing.

WAIT! **NY FED WEBSITE NOW SAYING THEY WILL ONLY BUY 2YRS TO 10YRS. FOR SOME REASON THAT WAS ON NY FED WEBSITE BUT NOT WASHINGTON FED WEBSITE. Long end coming off hard ... Longer-term doesn't mean 20y, HA-HA! Confusion reigns!

    $750 billion in FREE MONEY!!

$750bn more of agency MBS; $100bn more of GSE debt; $300bn long-dated USTs. All adds up to a nice, tidy $1.15trn... I love the smell of fresh-printed money in the morning :)!

Nice article, seems like sound research... Liked it and this gives me even more reason to believe that Fibonacci retracements are a form of witchcraft. However, and this, TZ, is key, even the authors exhibit healthy skepticism about their own methodology, saying that the set of different...
