IB's execution is great, commissions too, but the news feed is junk. If you send a dollar into think or swim you can get a better news feed plus free pit audio from Ben at tradersaudio. Or check out tradethenews. 150 is a bit pricey but you get 24 hour news events from all over the world.

Sounds like it's similar to the trading being halted pending news or investigation. You're just stuck in that case. Your broker should work with you and help you, but if it can't be closed there's not a lot they can do. They should forgive interest payments though.
