IB vs Thinkorswim RE: price improvement

It would seem 5-10 of them would account for 90% of the business. IB has identified now how TOS does it. Additional point (a critical one): A stock with low liquidity can be impacted by every buy or sell order. The additional routing destinations who offer price improvement it seems to me...

IB: "order is being held & monitored"

IB trade desk said to assign the order to fill even after hours would solve the problem. I did, & it worked.

IB vs Thinkorswim RE: price improvement

I don't think that's appropriate to say. IB definitely does have its share of advantages as well. And yes, this change would definitely make a difference for many customers. Thank you IBsoft in advance.

IB vs Thinkorswim RE: price improvement

Today, the difference between IB versus TOS, was 19.5235 (with TOS) versus 19.51 with IB, which was also the displayed price. Sold 400 shares with TOS, then another 400 shares 22 seconds later. The sale on IB was 5 seconds later at 19.51 at the displayed price of 19.51. (Note: To support Jim...

If he gets results with IB, that's important to a lot of people.

If your brokerage is the counterparty to your trades...

Is it a based on a hunch (based on your experience with your BD) that the same could apply by IB? Or have you seen with your own eyes? What items are you referring to?

IB vs Thinkorswim RE: price improvement

I sure hope that Jim Rockford is right that IB is merely overlooking this in their order routing, and I sure hope they do something about it.

IB vs Thinkorswim RE: price improvement

Bewildering: Just made the following trades with Thinkorswim & with IB: A1) Sold 400 of a particular stock with TOS at the bid of 19.31 & got 19.316 on Thinkorswim. A2) 26 seconds later, I sold 200 of that stock on IB, and got 19.31 (i.e. no price improvement). B1) 41 seconds later sold 100...

IB: "order is being held & monitored"

Neither were to short the stock. Today was to close a position (which I opened when it was trading above $1); and when the same happened several weeks ago, it was to buy long.

IB: "order is being held & monitored"

I've been trying to sell today & yesterday IMH shares, and the order is not sent. Today, I tried each individual routing destination & the same thing happens. This also happened to me before with a different penny stock. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

    After-hours liquidations on stocks?

Does that mean they wont liquidate you in extended hours if the difference is >5%? BTW, to the best of my understanding it could be 100% difference and you wont get it if the counterparty is a retail trader.

    After-hours liquidations on stocks?

My understanding was that trades can get busted only if the counterparty is a MM?? or specialist??, but not a fellow retail trader--unless he agrees. So you are saying that although intraday IB will liquidate on the spot, but after hours, they will be patient till 10 minutes into the next...

If your brokerage is the counterparty to your trades...

About the hidden liquidity issue, in the wake of some of the observations made, I increased my day trading on Thinkorswim today. My experience was [aside from the issue of price improvement coming from hidden liquidity], I was able to unload my shares much easier. E.g., if the bid shows 100...

If your brokerage is the counterparty to your trades...

So long as the rules of the game are spoken out clearly. The rules also include that retail traders should know MM's--regardless of which MM (I believe??) will try to rook him. With this information, if he decides to "play the game" anyway, then fine--but we must be informed including it's full...
