I would like to discuss averaging down

The notion that averaging down is for losers is absolutely incorrect. For a new trader with no risk management it can be very dangerous, but if you have your rules in place it can be the difference between failure and success. Obviously the usual place for averaging down would be a...

    my 1 share execution

I suppose it's just a game of hot potato at that point.

    my 1 share execution

Many of these tiny odd lot fills are just probes to determine whether your order has reserve, or if there is anything hidden on the book. I believe these are mostly ex-Swift Trade guys, they've been doing this stuff for years.

    "Enhanced Data Feeds"

I don't remember this part of the book unless you are referring to the section on hidden order ID's. Either way, I hope to see you in Vegas this year, it's been a while!

    Trader P/L 2012

It's not often I get to post a best day...so thanks Knight! Unfortunately the CO trade will get broken, so the actual is about $10k less. Congrats to everyone that took some dough from the big boys today.

I can only see how many orders, and how many trades executed during that second. No bid/ask. The software is real-time. I never tried to ping for ms test though if that's what you're asking. For someone with programming experience and a nanex feed you could recreate the program with much...

If your strategy includes taking the other side of big cash buy programs then you would have shorted. Otherwise, you wouldn't care...it's just information.

Fwiw that SPY trade was an intermarket sweep BUY that swept 3 levels for appx 100k shares (.88-.90). He quickly regretted that fill. It ended up being a good sell signal. Without the hft software you would have no idea that this is going on behind the scenes. Whether it would help your style...

    HTF alert

Just going to post this here as something interesting. The biggest hft of the day just happened. You can see the stocks they traded in this sub-second program. We'll just have to wait and see if it means anything in the longer time frame. No position.

Latency arb is huge for these guys, and often results in turning points in the market in my opinion. I suggest reading Broken Markets.

Why write off a tool that you've never tried? Do you trade indexes? If so, have you noticed how all day long indexes cycle back and forth, typically between volume events? These events are the HFT guys. The more details you have about these events, the better decision you can make. You can...

I believe any data that comes through the program while you run it is saved so you can go back through previous days.

Yes, it's just another tool. If it helps your edge, great...if not you lose $25.

Let's say the market is strong and you are watching for a big $tick reading to short. You get a 1000 $tick, but the hft shows only 250 stocks in the buy program. Not great. Then the market moves higher again and you get a 1200 $tick with 500 stocks included...a way better signal to short...

I've used the $25 version for some time now. Easily worth the money. They use a Nanex feed to find quote bursts throughout the market and relay that to you. If you are an index trader it would be a helpful tool because you see the program trades hit the market, and you can even see which...

    Why day trade?

Well I took my trade for the day, what am I going to do now? Have you guys all taken your one trade for the day...that's all the market allows you know.

Someone steals my fill for one hundredth of a cent (as per TRF)

I agree, but that will never happen. Payment for order flow has always been around afaik.
