I see what your saying from looking at your spredsheet. I was thinking more along these lines: If the NYSE volumn today was 1.2 biillion and the average was 1 billion then we have a ratio of 1.2. Say abc's volume was 1.1 million and the average is 1 million we have a 1.1 ratio. We then take...

    Broker upgrades and downgrades

Does anybody play the stock of a major brokerage recomendation, such as Bear Sterns, when they upgrade or downgrade such security? Seems they can really move the stock for a short time after such a change. Do the institutions really use brokerage recomendations? jj

    Let's talk probabilities.

Just for fun I did a little study on the theory about; "85% of the time the stock will move higher the next day if the close is within the highest 10% of that day's trading range" I used Yahoo data on the S&P 100 and had over 500,000 days of data. The findings are...

    S&P pre market prices

The S$P futures pre market price seems to be very accurate compared to the S&P index at the opening. Do traders use pre market prices to value the futures or do they get estimated opening prices from the specialists? JJ

The Opening and the S&P Futures

I notice that Pre-market on the SP futures and the opening on the SP index corralate quit well. Do the major taders use Pre-market trades or do they use opening calls by the specialists to estimate where the S&P will open? jj
