how to manage false breakouts on NQ ES

most breakouts on ES get faded these days, true. imho 2 things will help: 1. If you're in on a breakout, it breaks out with a good volume spike and then immediately gets faded, bail out RIGHT AWAY. Don't wait to see what happens. 99% of times it will lean and you'll take a large loss. Just...

Best e-mini rates for 'somewhat active' trader (500 to 750 RT's per month)

also check out MBTrading they now have NQ/ES $4.5 RT, YM $4 RT. No platform fee, no minimums. However, they only trade 9:30-16:15 for eminis, and, their platform sucks sooooo bad, you'll pay all the savings back with interest imho.

    YM Untradeable?

try ER2 (russell 2000 emini). awesome swings, good risk/reward ratios, smooth movement. due to its large swings expect much larger profits and losses ($ wise). Therefore reduce your lot size when starting to trade it. However smoother than YM.

    prop firm dilemma

I personally think that the best solution (for an equities trader) is to go remote with a prop firm. You get the leverage, you get the good rates, and you keep your freedom and don't have them pressuring you. Win-win situation. I agree that if you want to trade equities and not futures, you'll...

    prop firm dilemma

CalTrader is right. I now trade futures and rarely make more than 2 trades a day. I capture larger intraday moves. My win/loss ratio is ranging 40%-60%, and my risk/reward ratio is anywhere between 130%-250% (winners 1.3 to 2.5 bigger than losers on average). I am profitable, and getting better...

    prop firm dilemma

Casey30, Just for the record, I took that vacation after about 6 months. I wrote "a few months", not a couple of months. Other than that, my main purpose for participating in this thread was to make the guy who started it aware of the dark side of prop, so to speak. Because I wasn't aware...

    prop firm dilemma

LOL... and in the post just before you, someone wrote that I deserve to get fired for taking a vacation. In my previous posts you can read that the minute I took a vacation, I got fired (they seized the opportunity, so to speak). I guess you were working at a better firm than I was.. you...

    prop firm dilemma

The most amazing advantage trading gives you is FREEDOM. You need to answer to no-one but yourself. Once you go prop, you lose that advantage. Suddenly you need to answer to everyone, just like when you had a day job, except you don't even get a salary! As I mentioned before, I was naive...

    prop firm dilemma

I was mentioning it's not WorldCo because I didn't want people to assume that I was trading for WorldCo, a firm that was known for its shady practices, and that's why I had such a bad experience. It wasn't WorldCo i was working for.

Futures trading with IB & eSignal question.

btw if you switch to Underlying mode (view -> underlying mode) it won't be purple anymore and you'll find it easier to enter the symbols.

Futures trading with IB & eSignal question.

i have yet to see an execution platform that compares to tws. and i have tried (live or demo) quite a few. the most annoying one was redi+, the worst piece of shit man kind ever pooped. tws rocks.

Futures trading with IB & eSignal question.

i wonder why you insist on trading with the esignal plugin though. TWS is probably the best software out there. That plugin is a joke, at least the last time I tried it a few months ago. in my opinion take your time to study the tws and use it.. you won't regret it..

Looking to Band with other remote traders

WestCoast, I think that Xoomtrade also give very competitive rates and are willing to negotiate even further with high volume traders. Maybe you should have a look (not affiliated, just a suggestion). Good luck! 50

    prop firm dilemma

You're right, and as I wrote, someone who's going prop should be AWARE of these things. simpleplan (who started this thread), asked quote Am I supposed to make money or generate A LOT commissions? Note the keywords "A LOT". end quote The answer is: YES, you are supposed to generate tons...

    prop firm dilemma

Soesman, They could instate a desk fee for low volume traders. This way things are clearer in advance. They could do a lot of things.. but as you read in my post, that is the way they chose. > I was reprimanded for many times for asking a trader to > reconsider his career goals because...

    Esignal ?

I heard there's going to be a total user interface revamp in eSignal 8. Maybe they'll provide workspaces too. I for one don't use these anyway.

    Esignal ?

That's exactly what I am talking about. I have say 4 chart windows (60min, 15min, 5min, 1min). They are linked to the quote window in which I have 40 symbols. I simply use the down arrow and Enter key in the quote window to go ticker by ticker, and each ticker I click, its chart appears on...

    prop firm dilemma

I was trading for one of the largest prop firms (not WorldCo). I had to put up $10K capital. Every two weeks they would take traders who don't trade enough (i.e. don't churn their accounts) to a conversation, in which they would clearly state that "if you don't increase your volume it doesn't...
