I checked on a few Provincial regulators and Quebec has membership in an SRO as requirement for approval. So it looks like IB must have got their IDA membership first(good thing cus it takes 3 mths) Will be glad to see IB actually on the membership list though.

Def have you been able to clarify my last few questions with IB Canada? 1) what they have and haven't done re: the registration process? 2) what you were referring to in July with regards to getting registered in Quebec? 3) timeline for avail. being in Jan 2002? Thanks

Well basically from what I understand you need to: 1) incorporate in Canada then, 2) Aquire registration from each Provincal Securities Regulatory Organization in each Province you intend to operate in. then, 3) Aquire membership in the Investment Dealers Association(IDA). So...

The main license was approved and now each indivual province must approve. Those applications are ready and/or have been sent. The clock is ticking..... The "main license"? Do you mean the Ontario licence? And was it just approved? Hopefully the rest of the provinces just fall in line...

Nothing new this week I take it? I think it might to time to get on the Canadian press about this story. It's becoming painfully obvious they are trying to delay entry of competitive U.S. discount brokers in to Canada. Two weeks to approve registration..pftt what a lark! it's been at...
