How to hedge e-mini S&P exposure when systems go down?

Maybe I'm missing something here - but how could you ever hedge an exposure that you can not define? You are either long or short or flat. What type of hedge could ever "offset" all of those possible positions?

Suprised no one has asked this yet... If you have a working/winning system, wouldn't you make more money trading the system yourself vs. selling a newsletter?

Anyone get IB Positions Liquidated ?

Why would the number of SSF contracts be adjusted? The only thing that should have changed is the actual margin required to hold the position - that margin should have dropped by 50%. The cash value of the contract dropped by 50%, but since you don't pay cash for them I don't think the...

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

You mean your colleagues did not know how IB handled stops last friday? Surely they knew they needed to enter stop-limit orders in order for them to sit on GLOBEX, no?

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

So, lets get this straight - your complaint is that IB does not submit a stop-limit order for you when you tell IB to submit a regular (stop-market) order? LOL. To answer your question - yes, of course there are two prices - but only one of them will need to be changed - the other one is...

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

No, I think you don't read what anyone else posts. The steps you outlined to change a stop-limit order are not necessary.

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

Guess what? You don't have to to all of that to change the stop. So I guess it doesn't matter if the fastest hands in the world could not do all that in one second.

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

LOL. It takes me less than a second to modify a stop-limit order on TWS.

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

If you enter a plain STOP order with J-Trader (PATS), that order is not sent to GLOBEX - it is held on the PATS server - just like IB does. Look at you J-Trader software - see the "*" next to the order type? Don't you know what that means?
  17. Q

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

LOL - You aren't listening. GLOBEX DOES NOT ACCEPT STOP ORDERS.
  18. Q

Why IB sucks for futures traders: stops!

Globex only accepts STOP-LIMIT orders no matter what platform you are using. You are going on and on about stop orders being held on GLOBEX servers. GLOBEX doesn't accept STOP orders, thus they don't hold them on their servers. Maybe you should check your facts...

    intraday margins

The exchanges don't calculate intraday margins - only overnight. Your broker determines their intraday margin on their own.

    Whoa Baby! What happened?

What is GATA? The CME says it wasn't one "bad" order, i read somewhere else that someone entered 3 2000 lot orders by accident, and now this about a 9000 lot order. Wonder where all these stories come from?
