Yes, difference in character between institutional and retail traders is a very interesting matter by itself. Thanks.

for small account: 50K, what is the reasonable return?

Forget goals of return. Just make ANY return in the first place. Consistently. Later you will improve from that level.

Ha... that is most likely true. But I mean, would be great to know what are typical issues of psychological nature among institutional traders (provided their activity is somewhat different from retail trader level).

    Ha, alright! :)

    Why easy is difficult

IMO chances of going broke are smaller if you don't hate what you do to make money. Passion is a great psychological edge by itself. Of course just passion is not enough, but, ceteris paribus it's more a benefit than not.

    Why easy is difficult

Real or not is a matter of education and experience. Second is derived from more knowledge and practice, so I am always interested. :)

    Why easy is difficult

Yes, I believe you do understand. Also understand without any doubts, how hard it is to get back on positive track. So more credits to you as you overcome that. As for doing something one feels passionate about, I think it was Confucius who said: "Choose a job you love, and you will never...

    Why easy is difficult

Emotional reactions evolve depending on experience we have. For most of us, while struggling to become profitable trading is a trauma. That by itself is a serious barrier, cause such emotions are reinforced. But as one becomes more consistent emotions also change. Positive reinforcement kicks...

    Why easy is difficult

Yes I never stopped trading my own account and some OPM. Frankly it didn't change much, cause trading is almost mechanical job for me, including emotional side of it. :) When "simple" also becomes "easy" is after enough experience to not question your trades much.

    Why easy is difficult

Yea, how simple is walking a plank 1m above the ground? And how easy? :D I agree that psychological problems, especially those related to lack of adequate self-confidence or on opposite, presence of overconfidence lead to dramatic consequences in trading. One of my favorite books is...

    Why easy is difficult

To add: of course there is skill involved in many activities as well. Trading is one of them, seemingly very simple, but also very nuanced professions, where "small things" make a difference between overall profit or a loss.

    Why easy is difficult

Thank you, sS. My view on the problem in more details is that technically simple activity can be both difficult and easy depending on existence of emotional component in the equation so to say. There are widely known experiments, where people were asked to walk on the moderately narrow plank...

    When did you start trading?

Early 2005. Forex account with GAIN. Couple months later opened account with IB.

    Why easy is difficult

Simple? Yes. Easy? Not at all. Throwing the ball into a basket is simple too, but how many can do it on NBA level? :)

    Philosophy in Trading

Are you sure the nature of markets is not already well-researched matter which has not much to do with modern development in philosophy? :)
