    (simple) TWS auto-stop question

No no no, the question to ask is: What is this "stop order"? :D

Well, it certainly brought his trading to a halt, if nothing else. :D

    cpu usage w/multiple monitors

Heh, I heard the opposite about that first slot. Somebody (on Elite as I recall) posted that in some situations, the first PCI slot may share something (IRQ or something else, don't recall) with the AGP slot. I've got a GeForce4 4600 in my AGP and 3 Dual G450s in slots 3,4 and 5. Works...

What Time Frame Do You Use For Day Trading

That part goes without saying, you don't need to spell out the obvious stuff :D.

It has also helped to bring about the general degeneration of this board. It would be a shame to see ET fall to the level of so many other places by giving shelter to rude, impolite and immature people.

    POLL: Monday's Open

OK, ET has picked a rating of 3.327, between opening about even and down just a bit. :D

    POLL: Monday's Open

You're right, I didn't even think of that (*doh!*) But I wonder, should we use that option for our CRLI? Uh oh, gotta run. Wife's home and we are going to the movies. :D

    A Daytrader's Story

More than 1 contract allows the losses to pile up faster, which allows him to wash out as a trader sooner, which allows him to more quickly move on to what he should be doing. :D

    POLL: Monday's Open

I appreciate your concern. While I do have a swingtrade on, it has rules written in stone for exits, and will not be influenced by something as meager as a (more or less) random poll of anonymous users of undetermined ability. I mean, how unscientific can one get? :D. Originally I suppose I...

    POLL: Monday's Open

Win XP Pro - any good?

jlcarey raises some good points. Basically, XP will be a little more stable and get fixes a little faster (including security fixes) than W2K. You also may find hardware that only has drivers for XP (and you also may have some older stuff that only has drivers for W2K). I'm running XP mostly...

"Stocks Could Rise When Bullets Fly"

You just knew it was only a matter of time: Stocks Could Rise When Bullets Fly Sat Feb 8, 2:57 PM ET By Haitham Haddadin NEW YORK (Reuters) - If history is a guide, rockets raining down on Baghdad could spark a rally on Wall Street. Macabre as it sounds, stock market rallies...

Bah! That'll only work in certain markets. Once this bear is officially dead, that thing will dump.

Win XP Pro - any good?

WinXP (and Windows 2k) are based on the NT kernel (essentially the core of the OS). I run XP Pro, and it works well for me. Got W2K Server with 5 client licenses still in shinkwrap.

I need career advice. Degree in Computer Enginerring?

Nope. My last job was at Microsoft, in Product Support (I worked with developers both inside and outside Microsoft). While there may be lots of development from other companies in Russia, Microsoft does not develop an extensive amount of code there. However, to convert to localized versions...

DSL in the USA and Power Outages

Thanks WarEagle. The problem with cable is our switch is at the end of our street, so it's on the same substation as my house :(. (Our whole "subdivision" is one street with about 3 dozen houses). EDIT: So I presume that when power is out to our street, it's also out to the cable broadband...

DSL in the USA and Power Outages

Thus I utilize the advanced UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) to run my modem  . Question is, will there be something on the other end of the wire to talk to it? EDIT: I'm not talking about trading all day of course. I'm talking disaster here, have a position and the power drops :(...

DSL in the USA and Power Outages

I'm considering DSL as backup broadband, and have a quick question. In the USA federal law or regulations (forget which) require phone companies to provide phone service during a power outage (which is why they send juice down your lines to make your phone ring). Since my local phone company...
