Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

Hey there Spydertrader and everyone, I'm a little confused about Rockets. In the "Bruno R" post, Jack refers to Rockets, how he initially finds them and what characteristics they display when they're ready to trade. Recently I downloaded all the documents in the MSN group and found a doc...

I'd like to discuss position sizing/money management for a bit. I've settled for the time being on a simple position sizing where I simply divided my trading capital by 5. So if I have, say, $50,000, I'd allocate $10,000 to each position. This is based on the theory that a worst-case loss...

I suppose discipline and good money management are helpful too, eh?

GROW disappointed me today. I got a good Low Band volume signal, price improvement, stoch, etc. It ended up not getting anywhere near FRV by end of day so I dumped it for an $0.11 profit. I'm thinking I don't like GROW due to its low volume.

Sold GROW at 18.25. Like I said, the entry was due to a mistake, but I still made 2% on the position. CKCM hit FRV at about 3:50 so I'm going to hold it overnight. Position is up about 2.3% right before market close.

    MSN StockScouter?

A friend of mine and I have been using scouter to find opportunities for longs. We only take those rated 9 and 10 and have PE ratios of < 15. Stock Scouter produces a much bigger list of high rated stocks than dogs, though. Aren't there better ways to find optionable poor performers than that?

I'm long CKCM and GROW as well. But when I checked the volume on GROW, somehow quotetracker gave a false alarm on the Low Band Volume. So I ended up jumping the gun on GROW. Just goes to show, always double-check everything before pulling the trigger. MEK signaled a Low Band Volume...

I'm experimenting with a version of the Dry-up scan script where the Lower Band volume is displayed along with each stock symbol. It saves having to type the symbol of each dry-up stock into the "Hershey Equities Rank" script to get this info. If I'm clever enough, one should be able to...

Man, for Monday 17-Apr, 19 out of the 41 final universe stocks are in dry-up. It's gonna be very busy on Monday.

Ya know, on the bright side it seems like this framework doesn't generally produce big losing positions. Must be due to the quality of the stocks to begin with.

Hey spydertrader, how do you scan for Bruno R setups? There aren't any convenient WealthLab scans that I know of to do this but I'd think it wouldn't be that hard to scan for.

CTHR was disappointing today. It hit low band volume early enough with price improvement, stoch > 80, MACD > 0. Never hit FRV at end of day.

I don't recall how long it took to get approved for the "JackHersheysStrategies" MSN group but I think it was pretty quick. I still haven't been approved for the other group, "ShortTermStockTrading" after several months.

I joined about a month ago but it appears to be inactive. I think you're in "Hershey Central" right here at ET.

    Any preference on trading platform???

I'll second IB plus the 3rd party front end of your choice (there are several from which to choose). In addition to those mentioned, Bracket Trader is worth looking at as well. The paper trading facility in IB seems pretty realistic (i.e. pessimistic). I'm a beginner index futures trader...

LOL oops never mind. Maybe if I'd actually *read* the thing as opposed to simply skimming it. I have teenaged kids so my brain is currently scrambled.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Journal II

I just read the "Bruno R" attachment and it looks just like the method that's being used already in this thread (i.e. the mainline vanilla short-term method). The key elements are quality universe, cyclic stocks, breakout of dry-up volume, MACD and Stoch for entry. The only difference I saw...

This discussion of gaps in relation to entry decisions on Hershey trading is interesting. In the "trading for dummies" approach as expounded by Chairman Maoxian (maoxian.com) a nice gap up under heavy volume is a sign to go long on a breakout. BUT the Chairman says to enter after the morning...

    Trading Dummies

Sorry, I guess I should have phrased that differently. Is anyone still around who trades the "trading for dummies" framework as espoused by Chairman Maoxian? I believe it has merit and has made some paper money for me in my IB paper trading account...
