Going From 1 to 10 lots to REDUCE Stress?

Why not? I think a realistic and conservative goal for a trader has to be to make 10%-20% a year in unleveraged returns. 1 YM lot is has a notional value of about 70k. If you make 10%-20% a year trading YM - that comes out to about 7-14k a year. Try living the good life off that. Try...

Going From 1 to 10 lots to REDUCE Stress?

Taking a $500 loss on a 25k account is the same as taking a $50 loss on a 2.5k account. The key thing is waiting for the lowest risk trades - nail the entry, take a decent profit, and be happy with what you have. I made 350 YM points in the previous 9 sessions - no losing day. But making...

Going From 1 to 10 lots to REDUCE Stress?

I think a lot of traders start off thinking that they will grow their account organically by trading a small account with one lot and adding more lots with more profits. However - I feel it is nearly impossible to make decent money or even appreciate decent performance when you're trading 1...

    Clarifying Mortgage Mess

Excellent post. This was all a big scam that was just a way to get us all to pay and owe more. Profits have been privatized and now the costs will be socialized thru bailouts and inflation. That's the Wall Street way.

Ron Paul polls #3 in Illinois Straw Poll

He beat the crap out of Guiliani and McCain even in this blue state. I wonder if how these straw polls work and if they mean anything. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/08/16/mitt-romney-wins-illinois-straw-poll/

    Bernanke Is Clueless

What you don't realize is that a mild recession once every five years is a very healthy thing as it forces people/businesses to respect risk and make smarter investment decisions. When the fed tries to 'pre-empt' every recession thru inflation - they simply allow economic imbalances to grow to...

    Discount Window Rate Cut: Symbolic?

Good point. I think the strategy they are using is "jawboning". In order to force shorts to cover and prevent a friday waterfall decline and a monday gap down open that forces many overleveraged players from throwing in the towl. The fed prefers that they keep gambling.

LONG since the open yesterday, result: I GOT RAPED!!! please read carefully

Nice post. So I'm guessing: in a very high volitility market, if one expects both a large move higher and a big fall in volitity one is better off selling puts rather than buying calls - since the fall in volatilty will work against the long call and in favor of the short put?

Citadel buys $500m Sentinel assets at discount, Sentinel to sell most of its assets

Citadel is the biggest vulture capitalist out there - buying out all the porfortlios of funds that go belly up at huge discounts.

    Marketsurfer says SHORT

Selling resumes next week - there's no way they're gonna let this thing crash going into the week end. Fed is pretty desperate now - they'll do anything to prevent a crash. PPT held emergency meeting yesterday - didn't you hear?

    Bernanke Is Clueless

Do you want to live in a country where you and every other sane person that respects risk is forced to subsidize that poor guy's and his loan shark's loss?

Its Time to Regulate Large Hedge Funds and Banks

First take your head out of your ass. All these banks and funds put on the same trades - and have been going thru forced liquidations in the past 20 days because they don't have the cash on hand to meet the margin calls.

    Bernanke Is Clueless

Don't forget Bush and the republicans/democrats in congress. They could've ended the no doc., interest only loans from the loan sharks thru legislation - if they weren't all bought and paid for. Worst political/economic leadership in over 200 hundred years. I think their approval rating will...

Its Time to Regulate Large Hedge Funds and Banks

The more time I spend in this game the more I realize just how corrupt it is - now watch people with barely a penny to their name be forced to subsidize the gambling habits of billionaires.

    Bernanke Is Clueless

As an import dependent economy -> lower rates = weaker dollar = massive inflation on imports. Again this hurts the poor and middle class more than anyone. The only think Ben can do is come out and say there will be massive losses but the risk is spread out thin enough that we will emerge out...

    Bernanke Is Clueless

When Bernancke does his 'liquidity injections' - where does he get the money from? Does he create it out of thin air by pressing a few buttons? Of course nothing is free - that kind of stuff (liquidity injections) has created the massive inflation in the past few years that has hurt the poor...
