The Dangers of x2 and x3 leveraged ETF's

When these doubles came out in 2007 they were so new that many traders got caught off guard in not knowing how the volatility premium and rebalancing feature can work against you. What's great for the issuer is they can keep doing reverse splits, so for example the price on QID is actually...

    another one bites the dust

From personal experience, I see it as both frustrating and great opportunities. The problem I have found is when you ALSO daytrade and watch the charts each day, you fall prey to the daily volatility which tends to affect your judgement and psychology. Then, instead of holding for your...

    The Bankruptcy of NFLX (Netflix)

Yep, the price action was not very impressive given the news driven opening gap. The OTM calls aren't looking all that stellar either.

7 mins. ago (Sun. night). Netflix gets huge deal with Dreamworks.

After dropping over 175 pts in just over two months, it's probably due for a nice bounce. Thanks for the post, I'll be looking at the chart and OTM calls this week.

Difference between CBSX and SEC registered firms?

You can read the "FAQ's" on their respective sites. Here are some comparisons: Avatar: CBSX, Series 56, Lightspeed platform, payout once monthly. Echo: PHLX, Series 7, Sterling, payout twice per week upon request. Regarding lock up of capital, CBSX firms require the 1-year lock up as...

    WTS - JC Trading

Very good discussions here, especially with the prior mishaps of some other prop firms that went under. I believe JC used to do business with Ocean View Capital, whereby JC would use Ocean View as their broker dealer. Perhaps hedgefund07 can explain why JC switched from Ocean View to WTS...

    WTS - JC Trading

Good question, perhaps this link will answer that for you: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=227275

    WTS - JC Trading

The domestic arm of WTS cannot allow non-U.S. traders (as per CBSX), but the Canadian arm can, so it is reasonable to assume that the balance sheet of the Canadian arm is stronger, given their access to traders from international markets. In my opinion, there is nothing "mysterious" about...

    WTS - JC Trading

What I was pointing out is that WTS itself has foreign offices (in this case, "foreign" being Canada) and thus they could be better capitalized than what is stated in the domestic filing. But you're right, the Canadian assets would not be recoverable by a U.S. based trader, just as the foreign...

    WTS - JC Trading

Good point, and a question that should be asked before looking to join ANY prop firm, especially if the number is not clearly separated in the SEC filings.

Former CEO of Ebay!! to be CEO of HPQ!!!

Nothing. The stock was tanking, the firm was inneffective in conveying value to its shareholders with the decisions it made on various acquisitions, and the board probably felt it necessary to kick him out. Not sure if Meg can turn it around, but the early investors in Ebay made out like...

    WTS - JC Trading

Regarding Nevis, I believe they are a separate company and not associated with WTS or Oceanview, however they refer U.S. traders to JC since they can't take U.S. traders given that they are offshore (on the island of Nevis). Regarding the financials, WTS may have more assets than mentioned in...

    Remote trading prop firms

There are many, use the "search" feature or read the posts in the prop firms thread. Here's a link which is a bit outdated, but has many props. Of course, do your own due diligence. http://www.traderslog.com/proprietarytradingfirms.htm

Ex Vcm'er Thinking Of Joining Pristine's Prop Program

When you join a prop firm you become a "member" and not a "customer" such as with retail accounts. Your capital contribution of 2k becomes "firm capital" and is used to offset your losses/drawdowns and platform fees. The buying power is through the prop firm's clearing broker and the firm...

    QQQ & SPY diverge

Maybe your position will get some juice after the Fed speaks tomorrow. Today's intraday reversal should have helped. What the OP said is true, AAPL carries a significant weight in the Q's, (over 14%), and looks unstoppable (for now).

New Goldman's Target 1250. Wrong Again??

Note that the article is vague on her timeframe, only the targets, which are based on standard fibonacci numbers. Perhaps Bartels is right, and the market will test those levels, but when? September has two weeks of trading left, and Bartels even cites that October "traditionally marks...

Lake Street, Capital Trading Group, and Broad Street Securities

Thanks. It's due to sites like ET that have helped others to conduct due diligence, despite having to sift through the nonsense posts.

    RIP Thinkorswim

TOS is the only broker I've found that gives you futures data without charge, even if one doesn't trade futures but still wants the data, so hopefully you're right and TDAT will keep offering the data even to its equity and options customers.

    RIP Thinkorswim

I recall another thread regarding per share commission, and Lightspeed and Speedtrader were mentioned as alternatives to flat rate commissions, however I believe Lightspeed has a $1 minimum, but Speedtrader does not. Hope that helps.
