    Observations on the NYSE specialist.

I don't understand why matching the opening price is any different than going through it. That is, for a 90K opening at a zero-plus tick of 80.50, are not all 6 of these orders guaranteed a fill? Buy 200 MKT OPG Buy 200 LMT 80.50 OPG Buy 200 LMT 81.00 OPG Buy 200 MKT DAY Buy 200 LMT 80.50...

    Observations on the NYSE specialist.

It goes without saying that a market order will always have price priority over a limit order because it is, by definition, priced superior to it. It doesn't seem that this has anything to do with the issue(s). It also goes without saying that if your limit order is not marketable at a...

    Observations on the NYSE specialist.

I don't get it. The single price implies to me that there is no precedence issue. Take the short-sale out of the question and see if we can agree on this one: Example 1: 6 different orders sent at 09:15 ET: Buy 200 IBM MKT OPG Buy 200 IBM MKT DAY Buy 200 IBM LMT 82.00 OPG Buy 200...

    OSTK ceo

Ask www.intrade.com if they would be willing to list a contract with such specs, and we can do so. If nothing else, you might get someone with a ton of money to bet the other side (I wonder if Cramer is prohibited from betting on InTrade :) ).

    IB Liquidated March Treasuries

That's what the thread was about. It's only 4 pages.

Well, you lost my interest again. I know, BFD. Maybe someone will post a summary when y'all figure out and agree on the rules. I'm betting July 2007 in the pool.

IB question- SNDA shares to short?

Quote from radolym: Anybody here who has an account at IB, could you check if they have SNDA shares to short? http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/SearchShortableStocks.php?cntry=usa&tag=United%20States&ib_entity=llc&ln=

Best way to get filled on the open?

For markets that support an opening cross, IB does the same thing any other broker would do - sending it to the same place. Shouldn't matter where it comes from.

    Observations on the NYSE specialist.

Quote from Don Bright: Long sales have priority over short sales. We often have traders with short sale orders on the opening who get partial or no fills when their limit price matches exactly with the opening price. Hmmm. The previous common wisdom was that any market order or limit order...

    IB question

API vs. TWS has no effect on your buying power. I don't know what Bitstream means either. If you have a PDT-tagged (margin) account and over $25K equity, you have 4x BP for intra-day trades, and have to meet 50% initial margin just before the close. If you have a non-PDT margin account...

IB retail pit access or not ???

I understand that they are fungible as far as the CME clearinghouse is concerned. What I'm more interested in, as SSB suggests, is how it will be implemented at IB - whether selling 1 SP or 5 ES on the floor will immediately flatten a +1 SP or +5 ES existing position in terms of buying...

Firms with the largest short list

Quote from GATrader: Regarding Reg SHO/locates- the point of locates is moot in certain tickers since some B/D's out there actually OWN stock and will let their own traders use it (for a fee) . There would be no downtick and locate issues. I'll go back and read it, but I don't believe that's...

    Best Canadian Retail Firms

Quote from Investorsources: 2) Interactive Brokers They do not charge for Software but they do charge for NYSE Open Book and Nasdaq level II total $70.00 per month. Not good!! Everyone is going to charge you for NYSE OB, one way or the other, since NYSE charges them $50 for it (used to...

    IB Liquidated March Treasuries

FND is 02/28. Liquidation deadline for longs should have been 12:00 CT (13:00 ET) 02/27, right?

IB retail pit access or not ???

Let me approach that question a little differently. In the past, there have been times when IB's connections to CME, CBOT, etc. have been down. During those times, the trade desk has had no way to enter orders either, since they use the same connections/systems. When such a failure occurs...

Firms with the largest short list

gig: Is there really that much of an edge in being able to short a small number of unborrowable stocks out of the whole universe of trading opportunities that you would risk having the profits taken back, large fines, or worse, and have to worry about those possibilities for years after the...

What 's the cost for an Hidden order?

Do note what fredcom posted - that the API surcharge is now even higher - $0.008 for the first 500 shares and $0.003 after that.

    Novel Idea re Shorting

Forcing people to cover by EOD seems hard to enforce, not to mention issues like trading halts, etc.

IB retail pit access or not ???

That's pretty unlikely. I think it's the "financials" category that is meant to contain the equity indices. In unbundled, I'm guessing it falls under the same category as the other equity indices. They're aware of the confusion.

Firms with the largest short list

The higher rate applies to borrow it the first time. The reduced rate applies if you hold it overnight or borrow it again within 3 days I think. I never bothered to figure out the exact details, as I rarely hold those positions overnight, and it's not something I do much. Assent's short list...
