    My tws has connections to mktgw1.ibllc.com and mktgw1.ibllc.ch also. It depends on which market data subscriptions you have. You can find out which servers you are connected to by running the command netstat at a command prompt.

    You should always look in the file "log.XXX.txt" in your /jts folder where XXX is 3 character day of week. If your tws just shuts down because of a java crash, a full stack trace should be written to the file. You will probably need the info in the log file to diagnose the crash.

    Thats because of bugs in Excel, not DDE. DDE Uses a windows message. It is guaranteed to be delivered on the local system. When was the last time you pressed a key on your keyboard and Windows "lost the message"? Since Windows NT 3.x was released in 1993, windows messages don't get lost...
