$1.70 Premium with 3 days to go

Shorting the puts and the stock. Man, you guys got brains AND "stones". Stock goes down....Gain on the shorted stock Stock goes up....Gain on the shorted Puts I wish knew how you arrived at that ratio of 5:1. Then there's the dummy question of why not short some calls instead of...

$1.70 Premium with 3 days to go

I mean I am committed to other positions. I wish I could follow that "Keep some powder dry" advice......... So, excuse my ignorance, but generally speaking, for every naked MO Dec 65 put you sold, you would have to have how much on deposit with your broker? If your broker's margin...

$1.70 Premium with 3 days to go

Holy Crap, the Dec 65 Puts, almost 10 points, and over 12 % away, are at .60. I'd sell as many naked puts as I could. I'll go out on a limb here..........., There is NO WAY MO is goin to 65 by this Friday. Of course, I have been wrong before. :( :( :(

$1.70 Premium with 3 days to go

    Taking a profit

I am ahead in my two positions in MO. One is an ITM write, Dec 70's, Stock is at 73. The other is the Dec75's. I am using margin, and am in pretty deep margin wise. I am tempted to close out my positions instead of waiting to options expiration. I am ahead in the stock, and the options...

    Automatic Dividend Re-Investing

Reinvest the dividends, and write out of the money calls against the stocks, talk about a return.........

    Which is better?

Well, as I said in my post, you like the behavior of the stock. Let's say you think the stock will stay the same or mildly go up. Say they have good dividend history, raised every year, large cap, old company.......almost boring. I guess what I'm really getting at is can a person...

    Which is better?

Let's say you own a stock that covered buy a call. As expiration approaches, the time premium dwindles, to the point of no time premium. You're in the last week of the contract, and in the money. For the sake of conversation, let's say the stock is at 53, the Nov 50 call is at 3 on the...

    PFE Div Factored in?

Excuse my ignorance, but PFE goes ex div next week, and the Nov 20 call option was at $2.00, the stock was at $21.99, and the div is $.19. shouldn't the option be $2.19, not 2.00. Again, excuse me if this is stupid.

    My Options Play

Sure looks like I'm wrong right now, the puts have gone down and the calls up. Maybe I should change my name to "Reverse Indicator":)

    My Options Play

Being the novice dummy that I am, from the way things look, I'd say don't bother buying the calls. I have a feeling we're heading lower, from what I see. OK, you can stop laughing now.

    PFE upgrade....

I own PFE in a covered call situation, and this morning it was upgraded by some firm, and there was a corresponding pop, but is pulling back. I always get a charge when these firms come out with a new position, I'll never forget Deutsche Bank's sell recommendation on Ford after it had gone...

Beware: Call writers must pay dividend

Thank you! I admit I feel like a kindergartner amongst college graduates. Thanks to all of you for your patience, and willingness to explain these things. You guys have forgotten more about these things than I will ever know, I am here not even 24 hours, and I have learned so much already...

Beware: Call writers must pay dividend

So, to sum it up,..... When my covered, in the money MO goes ex-div, and the call is not exercised, and I own the stock the day before ex-div, the day of ex-div, and the day after ex-div, I will get the dividend. Right?

Beware: Call writers must pay dividend

Wait a minute,............ wait a minute,........ hold it Let's take my example, Mo goes ex-div about 3-4 days before contract expiration I own the stock, all of my contracts cover stock I own. You said I might be responsible for the dividend out of my pocket if the stock is called...
